5.0 out of 5 stars perfect pop!, June 14, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Formula One Generation (Audio CD)
If you're looking for the perfect (i hate to use the phrase) punk-pop album...this is IT! The Pooh Sticks are out of Swansea, Wales and who knew the Welsh could kick out the jams like this! Every track is a high point, especially the cover of the Vaselines "Dying for It". Originally released on vinyl in 1989 (I'm pretty sure it was '89), this rekkid stands the test of time (thank god grunge is over...or is it?). If you like this one, check out another Pooh Sticks classic "Multiple Orgasm". Enjoy the sweet taste of Bubblegum Pooh Sticks style!...

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT EARLY POP FROM WALES' FINEST, September 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Formula One Generation (Audio CD)
The Pooh Sticks are one of a kind, stealing old guitar riffs from Neil Young and Raspberries songs. Their simplistic, wonderful pop songs are instantly catchy and well crafted. This is a seminal release from the band, a hard to find gem. Although the production is not as good as their more recent titles, "Formula One Generation" is necessary for any Pooh Sticks fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars An obscure band, and that's pretty sad to say, October 8, 2009
This review is from: Formula One Generation (Audio CD)
Such a good little power pop album that never gets boring because they mix it up from track to track. They go from power pop on the first song to straight up twee pop on "Teenage High" part one and then even get a little progressive a little later on with a long-form song starting with the ambient sound of rainfall. They cover GG Allin, and the Vaselines, but seem to make it all gravy within the confines of the same album. Oh, and if you're a big music fan of the past and hear some musical elements that seem just a little too familiar, they are. The Pooh sticks rip off elements of popular songs and place in their new context which makes them completely new....but familiar. It's a fun album and if you like fun check this one out it's not too loud and yet it ready gets you going. In that, I would have to say that they're different from a lot of the other bands on Sympathy and yet they still fit in just right.
