Just your basic cd by a movie star ? .....GUESS AGAIN!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Forosoco (Audio CD)
I first saw The Bacon Brothers on Prime Time Country and when I realized one of the brothers was Kevin I decided to just take it with a grain of salt. Oh, but I fell in love! I was absolutely stunned by the songs and the sound! I finally bought the CD three times and it is now in my car, at my office and at home! It would be difficult to choose my favorite song because it changes daily. I would have to say that "Guess Again" makes me smile when I'm having a bad day and "Boys In Bars" leaves me feeling melancholy for experiences from the past. Every song is great! There is humor and sarcasm and a lovely wistfulness.

I have never found a cd that I could listen to over and over again.......until now. This is by far, the best cd in my collection! Every single song is excellent but my favorites are Old Guitars and Only a Good Woman. I play it for everybody that comes to visit and within a month, they've gotten it too! Every music lover should own this cd!

Like most people, I was surprised that Kevin Bacon was taking a stab at a musical career. They recently performed in Portsmouth, NH, so we got tickets for the show, and bought the album to see what we were in for. I can't even describe how fabulous their music is! Kevin and Michael have written beautiful, poignant, funny and even some really rockin' tunes that will have you addicted in just one listen. Their style stretches over the boundaries of rock, folk, country and soul. Their voices blend beautifully together, and their harmony is fantastic. And their show was out of this world. I recommend this CD to anyone with an open mind and a thirst for good music! And if 'Brown Eyes' written by Kevin about his wife & kids doesn't bring a tear to your eye, nothing will!

I bought this CD on a lark, figuring it was an ego trip on the part of a movie star. He is definately not a diletante. It was hard for me to pick a favorite song. Old Guitars, Only a Good Woman and Guess Again are fun. Adirondack Blue , Live With the Lie and Rainy Day Man are good ballads. Brown Eyes is for any daddy. Looking forward to the new one. The harmonies are terrific, the music is fantastic, the band is tight. The only negative for me was the last song K-9 Love.

I found the bacon brothers music through our local library music collection and have since bought every CD and gone to two concerts. They have a refined garage band sound, really clever songs, every one stands on its own. This CD is my favorite of all of theirs. I have listened to it about 200 times and still enjoy it on a regular basis.

The one that started it all!,

This is the first of many wonderful CDs by the Bacon Brothers and the one that got so many of their fans hooked on them. Their sense of humor really comes through on Woman's Got a Mind to Change and Only a Good Woman. From the rockin' "Boys in Bars" and "Guess Again" to the very moving "Memorize" this CD really delivers!

My sister and I each bought a copy of Forosoco after a Bacon Brothers concert several years ago. It is still one of my favorite CDs. All of the songs on this album showcase their tremendous talent as singers/songwriters. In particular, "Memorize" is truly unforgettable.

Surprised!,

While I was home for Thanksgiving this past fall, my sister was playing the Bacon Bros. CD on the stereo. I was surprised when I asked her who this was and she replied, Kevin Bacon and his bro. Later when I returned to NC I bought the CD and already know that I will listen to the CD over and over again. The guitar, vocals, and lyrics are excellent! It has the likes of the Pat Mcgee Band and even reminds me of early Dave Mathews acoustic. It is definitely a keeper.

Brings back memories,
By A Customer

I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Listening to this CD brings back great memories of sitting around a local Pub with friends having a drink or two and singing along with a guitarist. It's upbeat and "comfortable". Can't wait to get their newest one. "Old Guitars" is a great song, and although I could do without the last song "K9 Love", the rest of the CD is great. I really like "Brown Eyes" too.

FROM BEGINNING TO END A WONDERFUL FEELING,

I, too, saw the brothers on Rosie O'Donnell and knew I wanted to at least buy the CD. I figured worst case I could just stick it on our shelf of many others...but I remembered the catchy tune of Old Guitars from the show, and I couldn't help but smile. Brown Eyes made me weep and then order another CD for my sister and her brown-eyed children. It's a CD that's great for parties, for reading a book by the fire, for just having fun with life. Never thought I'd say this about a movie star and brother, but they really do make magic in sound. It's James Taylor meets Van Morrison, and it's wonderful.
