Cuts like glass,
By A Customer
This review is from: Forrest CM12806115 Chopmaster 12-Inch 80-tooth ATB Miter Saw Blade with 1-Inch Arbor (Tools & Home Improvement)
This blade of extremely hard C4 carbide & the neg hook design make for the best chopsaw cut I have encountered yet.You can get a reflection from the end grain cut of a piece of hard maple.I use these blades every day all day in a high end cabinet shop, and leave them on the machines for months without need of sharpening. The blade is very well balanced and I would definitely recommend a blade stiffener. I have spent the money and bought the other brands but in no way do they compete with the quality & durabilty of the Forrest line. You will not be disappointed.

The Forrest Chopmaster does not disappoint in the least. I use my blade on my delta 26-255L 12" Twinlaser miter saw.The blade cuts effortlessly through all sorts of wood both soft (pine, poplar) and hard (maple, oak, hickory, etc.). When I say effortlessly, I do not exaggerate, for the blade encounters almost no resistance as it slices through wood. This buttery smoothness is the first thing you will notice when you put this blade on your saw. The second thing you will notice is the smooth cut this blade gives you. Due to the precise grinding of the carbide tips, after a pass, you will not be able to see any streaks, abrasions or "circle burn" that is common with lesser or dull blades. Now, just as every other blade on the market, it claims to have zero tearout and splinter-free cuts. This is simply impossible for any blade, so don't be disappointed when there's a tiny bit of splintering at the base of the cut. Now, the Chopmaster reduces the tearout to almost zero, but without using a supporting sacrificial piece behind the stock you are cutting, no blade on the planet will have zero splinters. Suffice to say, the Chopmaster is the most expensive blade there is for your miter saw, but as with most tools, you get precisely what you pay for. If you wish to take your woodworking to the next level, you need to get this blade. Remember, when it comes to precision, the quality of the blade or bit you use with the tool is equal to, if not more important than the quality of the tool itself.

I bought 4 Forrest blades this fall. I had some problems with 1 of the blades. I posted a negative review. to my suprise I was contacted by Dave Morgan of www.forrestblades.com (not who I bought the Blade from) he sent me a new blade which cuts great. Customer service can't get much better than that.Jack Krantz Krantz Builders

True Precision,

I recently purchased a "Chopmaster" blade by Forrest. And have to honestly say it is the best blade I have ever used. I get no splinters no matter what I cut. The cuts are exact and extremely smooth. I tried to measure blade runnout with a dial indicator, and could not detect any. If a quality cut is what you are looking for, I doubt there is a better blade on the market that compares with this one. I'm very happy with my purchase.

If you're like me, you appreciate a cut that is smooth and true, no matter what the wood. If that is the case, you need to spend the extra money for Chopmaster. Like other Forrest blades, there is no splintering/chipping, and the blades go forever without needing resharpening. A very quality product worth every penny.

I have three Forrest saws blades and I'm sure to buy more. This chop saw blade gives a smooth feel as it slices through wood and the finish it leaves is finished, no sanding needed, no tear out. I have used three other brands and am sold on Forrest. Try this test, use another brand and take a slow cut and note the feedback to your hand and the finish. Same wood try the Forrest, not only will you see it you'll feel it cuts smoothly. I missed seeing a nail and as soon as I did you could feel the saw started gnawing. If you were there you would have seen one sad old man. Luckily Forrest could re-tipped it at a reasonable cost.

Sometimes you don't get the performance you expect when paying top dollar, but in this case you do. It cuts extremely smooth with no tear out. Worth every penny.

I have been using the Chopmaster for several years now and consider it to be the finest miter saw blade I've encountered. My second favorite is the Tenryu Miter Pro Plus which is almost as good as the Forrest. The Freud, Dewalt, and various other brands I've tried are fine for paint grade trim and framing, but when it comes to any stain grade work, I turn to the Forrest as my blade of choice. The reason why is that it cuts extremely smooth, is quite rigid (less deflection creates more accurate miters), and I've found that when cutting small returns it has the least tendency to catch and throw the small return piece. Minimizing flying return pieces saves me time, reduces waste, and is safer.

If you are looking for THE absolute best blade for your Sliding Compound Miter Saw (SCMS) look no further than the FORREST ChopMaster blades.
I use the ChopMaster on my 12", 10" and 7 1/2" SCMS and these are by far the best blades I have ever used - cuts are as smooth as butter! Mike

I have used the Forrest Woodworker II blade for many years, with superior results, and this blade is no exception. I have a Delta 12" Model 36-235 compound miter saw and this blade places an already good saw into the very best there is category. I use a lot of hard woods in my work, (walnut, oak, cherry, birch etc.) and the cuts are smooth, extremely accurate, and with minimal or no bottom splintering. What more can you ask for?
I do encourage a bit of common sense to the user of this blade. If you are going to cut up pressure treated lumber or just plain construction studs etc., take the time to change out the Forrest blade and use your old Sears, Freud or whatever you may have in the junk pile, for that kind of abuse. Please, please, send your Forrest blades back to the factory for resharpening. I don't care if your good ole' Uncle Bubba is a whiz at sharpening your hand tools, he just can not properly sharpen a Forrest blade --- drunk or sober. |
