He'll Never Forsake You,
By
This review is from: Forsaken (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Pastor Jerome Tyler "JT" Thomas has many secrets that come to life in Forsaken by Vanessa Miller. He has been living a life of sin and that life has finally caught up with him. After a tragedy led him to one night of crime, he decided to live his life according to God's will. Bishop Turner had a great influence on helping JT become pastor. He also introduced him to Cassandra. Life could not be any better until heartbreak entered their marriage. He thought God had given up on him and forsaken him. His trust faltered and JT did not know how to handle it. He began turning to other things and cheating on his wife, Cassandra, with different women in his congregation. Cassandra puts up with all she can. When the women become bold and start to threaten her family, she has to pull out. Will their marriage withstand JT's infidelity?
Miller knows how to pull you in immediately with her great descriptions and character development. There are several twists to the plot that will keep you turning the pages. I cannot wait to read the other books in this series. If you enjoyed the Rain and the Storm series, you will definitely enjoy this one. Donnica Copeland APOOO BookClub Sista Talk Book Club

Forgive and Forget?,
This review is from: Forsaken (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
For such a serious topic, I found myself cracking up at several parts in this book. I have read other books where husbands are acting crazy, but I think what I most enjoyed more about this story was that while there clearly were good guys and bad guys, throughout the whole book, I kept trying to decide which side JT (the husband) was on. One minute I liked him, the next minute I was ready to hurt him myself (no need for Jimmy or that good and throwed-off Vivian). I'm glad to know that there will be a sequel because JT is still in the dog house with me! Great job, Vanessa!

When is enough, enough?,

I really enjoyed reading this book. Vanessa did an excellent job with the characters. I wanted to jump in the book and slap JT, shake Cassandra, and put Mattie in her place. Great read to let you know that no one is perfect even those who are in ministry.

Coming Full Circle,
This review is from: Forsaken (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
There are times in our lives when we cannot see daylight even when all the lights are on. So it is for Pastor J.T. Thomas. Forsaken by Vanessa Miller brings its readers into the tumultuous life a man of the cloth whose fabric is riddled with holes of his past and current indiscretions. Those indiscretions will prove heartbreaking and extremely dangerous for him and his wife. How the couple will handle the hardships of `roosters coming home to roost' is one that will provoke a myriad of emotions. From beginning to end, the manifestation of how we touch others lives is vividly shown. Dr. Linda F. Beed On Assignment Reviews

This book was amazing from beginning to end. The story line was great and unpredictable. It was a true testimony of being forsaken by God. Vanessa Miller brought this story to life and as a Christian I was able to connect to each character. I felt horrible for JT as his world kept crashing around him, even though he deserved every bit of it. The events were so real! Nothing seemed faked or over the top. I also connected with his wife Cassandra. She, too, was a REAL character! Her story is a true example of a lesson on forgiveness. I felt her pain and I was brought to tears at the unfoldings of it all. I was also able to take away some key points about expectations of our significant others. In the end, it didn't have the typical "happy ending," which made it even more believable and relatable. GREAT book! I'm about to start reading Forgiven right now!

I loved it. The book gave me a lot of insight to where I am personally right now and feeling as though God has left. Vanessa did a superb job in letting God use her to help the fallen and the weak. This book is totally different then her past books, but I can't wait for the next part of this. I'm glad that Vanessa wrote the characters being strong even in the time of trials. We as Christians fail so often to trust God in the mist of our trials. I really loved the crazy stalker too that was funny.

I read Forsaken in one evening! Vanessa is definitely an annointed writer! JT - A pastor fallen from grace. How many times does this happen in everyday life? Many! It is refreshing to have read this book. People need to truly understand that Pastors are human too. And with that being said, they are also capable of being redeemed. All of the characters in this book are well developed and you can relate to them in real life. Keep on writing Vanessa! And I'll keep on readindg!
