Book Description

December 1, 2007 Kimani Romance (Book 70)

They are all wrong for each other...

Jessica Harrington knows what she doesn't want for Christmas--to be roped in to her parents' matchmaking scheme. Ever since she and Weston Chamberlain were children, their fathers hoped they would marry and merge their families' fortunes. One problem--Jessica and Wes can't tolerate one another! But love can make everything right...

Wes, who arrives in Aspen for the families' shared ski vacation, has grown up...in delicious ways. And beautiful Jessica is nothing like the awkward teen Wes remembers. The breathtaking setting fuels a sizzling attraction that surprises them both. But living on opposite coasts is only one of many obstacles ahead. Can romance last once they've left their winter wonderland behind?

3.0 out of 5 stars Just average...., December 6, 2007

I have been a big fan of Linda Hudson-Smith in the past, but "Forsaking All Others" left me slightly disappointed.

The story of Jessica and Weston has a great framework; their fathers have been best friends for years and have always hope that Jessica and Weston would develop a romantic interest in each other and "officially" bond their families through matrimony. Jessica and "Wes" have no interest in falling prey to their fathers' wishes.

The main problem I had with this book was that the characters and dramatic impact of the book were underdeveloped. The writing is largely descriptive and overly so at times when Hudson-Smith describes the room décor and the characters clothing in excruciating detail. That type of detail is lacking in the dialogue of the book. The story was so idealist as to lack intrigue and realism.

Built on a good premise, the book lacked something in execution. For a better representation of Hudson-Smith, I'd recommend "Sweeter than Temptation", "Tomorrow May Never Come", or "Ladies in Waiting".

3.0 out of 5 stars Forsaking All Others, December 5, 2007

When Jessica and Wes unite in Aspen with their families for the holidays, neither knew they would actually start to have feelings for each other since both families had always been trying to play matchmakers and put them together.

Keeping the family away, the couple decide they will explore their feelings with the usual happy ending.

Being a fan of Linda Hudson-Smith and especially her earlier romances, I felt like I was reading for young adults because of the ages (25-27) of Jessica and Wes; although, their romantic encounters were more adult.

1.0 out of 5 stars Forsake this book, June 23, 2008
This review is from: Forsaking All Others (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Apart from the love scenes this book is written for an audience of 12 year olds. I have read other books by LHS and they were way better than this. This is the first book that I have decided not to finish it was that bad, I got as far as chapter 4. I admit romances between 20 somethings do not interest me but a good writer can appeal to any age however this does not. If it were possible I would give this a zero mark
