Galsworthy's writings are now more or less out of favor. This, The Forsyte Saga, is an excellent read, it is not stuffy. It captures the spirit of the British upperclass, a typical family living in a Great Britain which no longer exists. A good companion piece to the two series aired, the first one dating to 1967, its' remake, in the last few years. I personally prefer the original series.
