First of all this thing is made of cheap plastic and hardly worth what it sells for. The volume of the siren itself its pretty good but not great. You have to have it plugged into an outlet for it to function so choice of placement is not so great. The battery is for backup only. The so called "strobe light" blinks once every couple seconds so it's not really a way to get anyone's attention. It's not even that bright of a light.
This will lose signal every now and then without any notification and won't work in the event of an alarm. You have to make sure you test your alarm regularly to make sure it's still functioning properly.

It does make loud noise and connects to my controller with no problems, but the "strobe" is little more than a couple of unevenly spaced, dim LED lights that are virtually unnoticeable. The whole thing feels cheap. Wish there was another option.

I purchased 2 of these in order to expand the audible alarm siren - one in my master bedroom and one upstairs. My control panel's alarm is loud, but gets drowned out by the time the sound reaches those two areas. I am using these with FrontPoint Security (who I love, by the way). The setup is quick and easy. The siren is quite loud. One major complaint is that these aren't really strobe lights - just a flashing light. There is a huge difference between a strobe light and a blinking light.... but seeing as how I got these mostly for the audible siren, it's not a huge issue to me. One important thing to note (at least with my system), is that if the alarm is triggered, the triggering sensor must be reclosed to stop the siren/light - even if you cancel the alarm, otherwise these keep sounding. This is important to know in case you accidentally trigger the alarm. Another complaint would be losing contact with the panel - one of mine quit communicating with my panel and was therefore useless... however, this was when I added the second siren/strobe, so maybe I messed something up. Once I reconnected the non-functioning siren/strobe it worked again and has since (months).

bought this to add to my household security system. It goes in my bedroom, as I am to far from panel to hear the regular siren. works as intended.

Initially, this siren worked well with my SmartThings hub. Then, about three months later, it started going off in the middle of the night for no reason. I noticed that the green indicator on the power supply was blinking intermittently. Before this, it was always on solid. I pulled the battery, left it unplugged, and went back to bed. In the morning I contacted Fortrezz via their web form asking for help. After not hearing for a few days I tried e-mailing their support alias and several weeks later, I still have not heard anything.

I tried to return the siren to Amazon but it was past the return period. I figured I had nothing to lose so I opened up the power supply. Nothing was visually broken to my untrained eye so I put it back together. I was about to throw it in the garbage and plugged it in one more time for giggles and was shocked to see that the green indicator light was lit solid. Great I thought, I can use it again. That lasted for about a week. One evening, Smartthings triggered the alarm as was expected and it went right back to the flashing green indicator/faulty power supply mode.

Long story short - works well initially, poor quality power supply, and non-existent support adds up to wasted money. I would not buy any Fortrezz devices in the future based on this experience.

It works and connects up quite easily with the Frontpoint Security System. Also note that even with a power failure the unit has a 9 volt backup battery.

The first Fortezz Siren I received was a complete dud. I got it to use with my Smartthings Hub and it would not connect at all and it seemed like the internal motherboard chip was knocked loose in the unit. Giving Fortezz the benefit of the doubt, I returned that one as a defective product and ordered another. I'm pleased to say that the replacement product works great. I had the new one connected up to my Smartthings hub within about 10 seconds and it has worked flawlessly ever since. The light is not very bright at all and really only useful as an indicator of its location in the dark, so don't count on the strobe scaring any bad guys away. Good news is the siren itself is bloody loud! It will make you jump out of your skin if it comes on and you aren't expecting it. I mounted mine high up on a wall with a small piece of 3M outdoor double sided sticky tape, instead of the included screws, but it still looks pretty discrete and works great. Overall, I would buy it again!

Great loud alarm which integrates easily with a Smartthings Zwave network. I wanted to tone it down a bit since i live in an apartment so i applied a little tape on top of the holes to muffle the sound.

There are 2 drawbacks to this alarm though:
1.- The sound is very loud and there is no way to control the intensity. There should be a way to configure the intensity of the alarm.

2.- The alarm will trigger a few seconds after the external power is cut, this should be configurable since it can run from a 9V battery. If your electricity is unreliable you might want to avoid this alarm because it will wake you up in the middle of the night if there is an outage.
