Wining Back Your Rapist--How Romantic, June 17, 2006

This book starts out okay. Very standard plot lines but not badly written.
The problem happens later on; when one of the character's husband, who she is seperated from breaks into the house she is staying in and RAPES HER.
In a trueley deplorable fashion this is quickley explaned away and no one does anything, not even the one person she tells about the rape (who has been victemized herself, but does nothing to help the victim). The rape is quickley rationalized away, the rapist had an unhappy childhood, so that makes it okay. The author also usues the defense of vile abusers the world over, the victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time, so the rape is her own fault (she was in another man's bathroom looking for asprin). And (according to the author and sex offenders) it was also the victims fault because she was in a nightgown, because wearing sleepwear, when she just woke up, is clearly an invitation to rape.
The story continues and the victim sets out to win back the man who raped her, a man who also treated her like a child, lied to her, was controlling and emotionally abusive. Not what I would consider romantic.
So please go ahead buy this book and ony others by the author if you would like to suport the mindset that makes rape not only permissable but the victems fault.
And lastley in a move that me Physicaly Ill, the rape is sugested to be an expression of love and a rekindeling of the sexual side of thier realationship.
I only continued to read this last story in the hope that this poor woman would get some help to deal with her issues and vast emotional problems.
By the way Miranda Lee, REAL MEN DO NOT RAPE, nor do they tolerate rapists or other abusers. Also there are millions of people the world over who have unfortunate things happen to them and do not turn into abusers.

This is the second book in her series of romance set in the "glamorous world of opal dealing." It is 3 books in 1, just like the other one. It re-introduces characters from the first book and this time deals with the romances of previous secondary characters. It also gives us updates on other characters that we knew and loved in the other book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Although it has 3 books in 1, it is more like a shifting of focus than a brand new book every time because the characters run through the entire book. The writing is excellent, the characters diverse and very interesting. I recommend this book for anyone looking for an escape into a wonderful world of romance!
