The result is "Fortune," an astonishing series of detailed narratives, some told from the point Americans traveling abroad in 2003, and others from the perspective of recent immigrants to the United States. Interspersed with biting cultural commentary and (of course) a little romance, the resulting work is inspiring and intoxicating and a little exotic. It is also their most rockin album to date, using mid-period Rolling Stones and the biting writing of 80s Elvis Costello and Graham Parker as a blueprint.

but I was dissapointed that no one had reviewed this record. This leads me to beleive that few have listen to it. This album is brilliant. The Mendoza Line is one of the few groups with a male and female vocalist where I want to hear both vocalist equally. Imagine Jeff Tweedy and Lucinda Williams forming a group. The song writing is brilliant, and there is more variety than the average "folk/americana" record. Buy this record

I love this album. It's a great combination of heartache and rock and roll. The songs are diverse and the musicianship is fantastic. When I listen to the album, I'm struck by its fluctuation to and from influences like Dylan, Gram Parsons and Paul Westerberg from one song to the next. Give it a listen!
