Bringing back memories of Myrtle Beach, August 19, 2003
This review is from: Fortune/Rock the Night Away/Live at the Roxy (Audio CD)
SugarCreek rocked the East Coast for 16 years. They played hundreds of gigs every year. They made it to the semi-finals of Ed McMahon's Star Search. Catch their music, it will bring back the 80's. They OWNED the Magic Attic in Myrtle Beach and electrified the South's biggest teen club for a dozen years. The band had a road crew that was almost as famous as the band, Tally Fisher, Gray Peck, John Gilreath, Ronnie Hatley, Kevin, Charlie and the unforgettable "Bam-Bam" provided as much entertainment back stage as the band did onstage. The guys in the band are still running around in the Carolinas, catch them and they will perform a "Creek" hit for you. Rick Lee and Lynn Samples are in "Too Much Sylvia", Jerry West is in "The Band Of Oz" and Tim Clark is "Deja Vu" all over again.

5 Star Disc, December 17, 2003
This review is from: Fortune/Rock the Night Away/Live at the Roxy (Audio CD)
The only thing wrong with this disc set, is the fact that nobody else from our home state but me wrote about these guys. I see all these replies from Georgia and Florida and none from N.C. Well, these guys kicked butt. Their music said it all. The only reason they did not make it all the way is of course the music industry suits that did not listen to the music. The guys in the band as well as the guys behind the band. A great bunch. I worked with several of the guys and had many opportunities to see them perform live. If you have any repect for great rock and roll, buy these discs. The addition of "Lovely Little Lady" from the demo disc is great. That version was played on the original WROQ in Charlotte for years. Check this out or have your brain check out.

An old Magic Attic DJ with his 2 cents worth, April 17, 2006
This review is from: Fortune/Rock the Night Away/Live at the Roxy (Audio CD)
I spent 90 nights straight working as the DJ at the Magic Attic in the summer of 85 and 86 (DJ name Chase). It was a pure pleasure working with these guys and seeing the magic they made on stage. I fondly remember the lines of people stretching a few blocks and lining up two hours early to get into the club. THAT is the power this band had on its fans.
I would play my music set from 7-830, then kill the lights, hit the fog machine and turn off the tarantula light before the guys hit the stage. They would play the first set to screaming fans and then I would come on with a 30 minute set at 10, then they brought down the house up until about midnight.
I went on to work in radio in Myrtle Beach and Nashville but seldom encountered a band with so much talent. Backstage we had a riot playing practical jokes on each other. Was that Brut after shave in the fog machine? Poor Tim hated that.
And of course, the highlight of my life was dressing up like an idiot while Tim belted out the lyrics to "Arthur Whiteside". I miss these guys and the fun we had. They provided the soundtrack for so many young people in the 80's and as we are now older, we can understand their value even more.
Tim, Rick and the rest of the guys, we miss you and are excited to be able to purchase this music and bring back the magic.
