Very useful and rare info!, October 20, 2003
This review is from: Fortune Telling by Crystals and Semiprecious Stones: A Practical Guide to Their Use in Divination, Meditation and Healing (Paperback)
I love this little book -- the color pictures on the inside cover are great for identifying stones, the author's method is simple and easy to learn, and her writing style is clear and positive in tone. I only wonder if a method this simple might not be detailed enough to provide accurate readings, but I have yet to put it to the test enough to judge. Nonetheless, I have not found many books on this subject, and none as enjoyable as this one! It would be well worth it for anyone interested to find a copy of this out-of-print gem! (pun intended!) ;-)

Start assembling your fortune-telling crystals to use with this book., July 5, 2010

Just pulled this book out again as a friend was visiting, and even though it had been years since I used it, we were both happy with how the reading hit its mark. My friends had enjoyed their readings that I did when the book first came out. It is true, as another reviewer says, the information to do the reading is brief and simple; it is meant as examples of how to read. Once one masters the basics, the intuition will come into play to expand the readings. There aren't many books I have found on how to do crystal readings, although I also like Scott Cunningham's Stone Tarot in his book on Crystals and there is also THE CRYSTAL TREE board.
To do the readings you will need to collect a set of approximately 32 crystals. And it is helpful to have more than one of some of the crystals, especially in various sizes, such as the amethystine agate, because the size gives an indication of how soon the event will happen. I have found it is fine to use small-medium tumbled stones for your readings, as they will be handled often and tumbles are quite easy to store and clean. The inside front and back cover of the paperback book show colored photgraphs of the following reading stones: agate geode, labradorite, botswana agate, aquamarine, iron pyrites, amethystine agate, tiger's eye, petrified wood, quartz crystal, tektite, dendritic agate [she uses yellow], flourite octahedron, serpentina (unakite), ruby, purple agate, red jasper, green jasper, red-green-and-yellow- jasper, amethyst, light green jasper, turquoise, what and amber agate, moss agate, rutilated quartz, agate with fossils, rose quartz, citrine quartz, blue lace agate, agate quartz, bloodstone, pink-and-grey-jasper, and turritella agate. Other stones are mentioned in the index. This is one of my dearest crystal books and one of my favorite crystal collections.
In addition, if you are interested in healing with crystals, I heartily recommend Michael Gienger's books on crystals. In his "Healing Crystal First Aid Manual" Gienger lists stones for a traveling crystal first aid set, a home crystal first aid set and an expanded crystal healing/ first aid set.
