5.0 out of 5 stars Great Suspense, Accuracy,, and love!
This book was an amazing one to hear. I say "hear" because I listened to the book on tape. One person in particular in a review said that the book was boring at the start. The book, however, was not boring at all, if listened to by careful naration by the person talking on tape. Filled with suspense, the book carries you on a journey back in time for me...

2.0 out of 5 stars Lukewarm Young Adult Historic Romance.
If you like Little House on the Prairie or Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman, by all means, go ahead and read this book. You could certainly do worse. Basically, this is Almanzo and Laura Ingalls Wilder saving the day as theater actors headed for San Francisco meets All My Children. Nice, safe, formulaic read with a predictable ending. All the fun of eating a twinkie with an...

Great emotion in the book. I loved it. It is a story about fulfilling a dead father's dreams, and realizing she is fulfilling her own. Read the book. It is good time spent! Great immagination too. The author teaches you to think carefully before you act, and to not let life pass you by. Realize the gifts you have been given.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book proving that love always wins in the end., January 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fortune's Journey (Paperback)
At first sight, this book seems like it would be boring. But in fact, it is the complete oppisite. Fortune Plunkett an inspiring actress finds herself in situations that she would never have thought possible. Taking on the dangerous route to California on the Oregon Trail is one thing...but fighting to keep her life and the lifes of her family together is another. She must choose between love and friendship, greed and loss. Not to mention her own war happening right inside of her head. The book has characters that you instantly fall in love with. I know, i found myself wanting Jamie to resight "Romeo and Juliet" to me. A good book is one that makes you never want to put it down, and one that makes you want to read it over and over again, and yet never makes tired of it. Bruce Coville does a wonderful job of making this book fit in to that description. So I hope that furture readers will take this book into consideration it is truly inspiring and wonderful piece of literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best book I have ever read! And I read a lot!, November 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fortune's Journey (Paperback)
If you have not yet read "Fortune's Journey", then you are missing out on a real treat. I can honestly say that this is my most favorite book in the whole world! So, read it! You know, Bruce Coville has written this so well you think you are actually in the book with Fortune Plunkett and the crew. It really keeps you wondering who will end up with who, I mean, if Fortune will end up with Aaron or Jamie. But it is really a great book. READ IT! YOU HAVE TO!

4.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly Enjoyable Book, December 31, 2011
This review is from: Fortune's Journey (Paperback)
This book was a wonderful way to introduce young readers to the Old West.. The plot was very engaging, making the book nearly impossible to put down. The heroine of the story is very easy to relate to, and her character keeps readers laughing. This mostly lighthearted story is an ideal book for young adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Childhood Favorite of Mine, January 17, 2010
This review is from: Fortune's Journey (Paperback)
When I was younger I read this book about seventeen times...in a row. There was just something about it that pulled me in and enthralled me. I have always found this book sweet and just romantic enough to give a little sweetness fix. I have never read anything else by this author though, so I don't feel it is a departure from anything as some other seem to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't put it down!, September 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fortune's Journey (Hardcover)
The year is 1853. Bravely carrying on the work and dream of her late father, young Fortune Plunkett is forced to grow up as she faces the realities of the Wild West. As she leads the acting troupe- Plunkett Players westward on a wagon train bound for San Fransico, she finds herself in many situations she never dreamed possible. In the untamed West, anything could happen- and it often did. Fires destroyed towns onernight, rives ran wild in heavy rains and wagons didn't always make it up steep, gravelly bends of mountain crossings.

Throughout the hard journey, Fortune was trapped in a silent war over her, which raged between her two admirers- Aaron and Jamie, one of whom was the newest member of her troupe. Though at first extremely confused over her true feelings, Fortune soon learns to follow her heart- to give in to something she had tried to surpress right from the beginning, to differentiate between love and friendship.

This book never fails to make you hang in suspense. Till the point you feel like dying if you don't find out what happens. Filled with unending romance, and careful research, "Fortune's Jouney" is a book you'll never regret reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!!!, January 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fortune's Journey (Hardcover)
This book is a wonderfull book. It is my favorite book by my favorite author. It is about a girl that runs an actor colony. As they head for California they pick up a young boy that Fortune (the girl) finds herself falling in love with. She doesn't want to attmit it but finally is forced to one day. That same day she and the boy (Jamie) discover gold. Later, one of the actors looses it all and Jamie gets the wrong idea when he sees Fortune's old boyfriend leaving her room. He leaves and later they find out that he is the son of another woman in the troop. Together they work to be reunited. As I said, it is the best book I have ever read.

By A Customer
This review is from: Fortune's Journey (Paperback)
This was a good book with action, romance, and mystery. During the whole book you wonder if fortune will end up with jamie or aaron and who jamie really is. You get real into the characters and who they are. this was a pretty good book by a person I never thought I would read. It isn't Coville and/so it is a good book
