Very well done. Good world building, particularly interesting and well-rounded main character, and although it seems to be the start of a series, it avoids the temptation of a cliff-hanger ending and wraps up the plotline nicely.

Not quite a 'must read/ auto buy' for me, so just missed being a 5-star rating but definitely a solid 4 stars and I will be keeping an eye out for the next book by this author.

Very fast paced, perhaps a little too fast paced for me. This reads like the best of stories that are written by Dungeons and Dragons players who are given free rein in building super characters that are invincible. Far too much time spent describing the main character's voluptuous physique, Efforts to be seductive and smoldering were smuttier than hot. This was a story told rather than painted, while there was an effort to description most of it was rather shallow, as was the character development. A good early effort but is very much flawed.

Fortunes Rising is a great read. It's a pure fantasy adventure, but is set in a surprisingly detailed world. The protagonist, Dhamyris, is a butt-kicking warrior-ranger who eventually leads a group of adventurers to break a curse over an ancient kingdom. While showing she is super tough and confident, she also shows tenderness of feeling and insecurity in other aspects of her life. Some of the descriptions of the challenges she's having with a figure that's becoming too curvaceous for the athletic assignment she has might be a little much for younger readers. Still for teenagers and adults who love fantasy full of original monsters, societies, and a whole world this is red meat. This is not the same old formulaic fantasy novel that I've gotten so tired of over the years. I definitely recommend this book, it was hard to put down.
