This review is from: Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth (Paperback)
This book is a collection of forty of Saint John Bosco's dreams. Each entry is several pages long captures in vivid detail the experience of this saint as he dreamt. These entries demonstrate the remarkable insight that John Bosco had into the depths of his own soul and the souls of those around him. He often used these striking personal and prophetic dreams to instruct and guide his students and colleagues. It is as if he could read the consciences of others through his dreams. This book gives the reader a glimpse into the life of a truly remarkable man.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stories, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth (Paperback)
This book compiles dreams from Saint John Bosco's memoirs, which makes it easier to read than the memoirs themselves. I especially enjoyed, Deadly Nooses, A Fiendish Elephant, Death's Messenger, The Snake and the Rosary, to Hell and Back, and Two Columns in the Sea. This is a good starter book for anyone interested in the dreams of SJB. His dream imagery is out of this world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable Insight for Obtaining and Preserving Holiness, March 16, 2010

This review is from: Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth (Paperback)
The forty dreams are revelations given to Don Bosco through his dreams. A few are revelations about Don Bosco and the immediate and distant future of his missions. Most of the other dreams are visions given to St. John Bosco regarding the spiritual state of his pupils. The last dream concerns the future of the Church.

Far from being a boring read about the sins of people I never met or something that wouldn't apply to me, this book has helped me to understand why my life is the way it is. I wish I had had a mentor like St. John Bosco when I was a kid- or at least this book.

With movies like The Exorcist the reality of demons is somewhat now common knowledge. Indeed, if demons were visible, this world would be an even better place. Now, through Don Bosco's visions we get a chance to see what these devils are up to, and the kind of tactics they employ.

So because Don Bosco's visions to help individual pupils with their particular spiritual struggles are now published, we too have access to the heavenly remedies they enjoyed. The forty dreams are a legacy of God's prescription for defeating vice and the devil and for fixing spiritual defects through the means Christ left for us.

I super-recommend this book to any catechist, parent or religious. It is a must!!!

This review is from: Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth (Paperback)
Those who have faith shall receive great and priceless graces if they read about these dreams especially: The Snake and The Rosary, A Pack of Monsters and The Two Columns in The Sea and make use of graces God shall give them after the reading.

What a book for what a price! The same holds true for "AA-1025".

This book revealed to me another side of Saint Don Bosco. My eyes were opened as I read about the dreams and visions he had received. "Nightime is god's messenger". An eye opening must read for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supernatural of Sorts, September 22, 2009

This review is from: Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth (Paperback)
This is a great read for those who like to share the religious experiences of others to enhance one's own faith. For those who believe, there is always a keen interest in the supernatural especially when the experiences are well beyond normal life happenings and what can easily be explained. Because the "writing" is a hundred years old (St. John lived in the late 1800's), there is also the tendency to dismiss the recordings as a pious legend. It fits with how much we think about ourselves today being so superior in knowledge, etc. than the person of yesteryear! Give me a break. Those of us with supernatural experiences today are tomorrow's nut cases for the unbeliever. Treat yourself to the read. Allow the stories to transform you and increase your faith in God and in the promise of eternal life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book - especially for parents of young boys!!, November 17, 2011
This review is from: Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco: The Apostle of Youth (Paperback)
I am thankful for this book. I read it some time ago & am ordering it to keep for reference. It has helped me to guide our boys by way of virtue. Mary was always helping St. Bosco to lead his oratory boys in the way they should go (through his dreams) & therefore has also helped myself & many others to parent properly.

I read this book, but it was my parents, and it was really intriguing.
If you're the type of person who will only read an interesting book, then this is it.
I've read a lot of saints books, but never have I read a saint book as interesting as this.
