3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the iOS version January 13, 2013
Verified Purchase
I have been using ForumRunner on my iOS device for quite a while and like it very much. On my Kindle Fire the visibility is much better. Unfortunately the kindle version doesn't always display image attachments. It allows lacks the swipe refresh and doesn't update message read status when returning to a menu from a message.

Overall it works but is clearly still a work in progress.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless March 6, 2013

I couldn't find any of my regular forums that support this app. I installed it, because I could not log in to several forums using Silk. Eventually, I found Google Chrome, which made my Kindle Fire more like a laptop computer. That's all I needed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Crap April 7, 2012

total waste of 2 bucks, many people agree! I got it just to use it only on 1 site, and it doesn't even work well, my phone I guess wasn't compatible for the upload photo option.

Why is this not updated to newest version? Android market is on 1.3.2. Paid the money here to support and regretting now. Update or done with amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another forum app that fails to deliver April 19, 2014

Forum support on mobile devices (iOS and Android, regardless of the app) tends to be very bad - I suppose that's what you get trying to integrate so many disparate forum architectures into a single frontend. Asking forum owners to install plugins that interface with the Forum App's API is painful for users, and with multiple forum apps out there on mobile platforms, why should a forum operator install a plugin for one API over the other?

To those of you who think this app may be better than Tapatalk - think again. It may be more stable for the forums it does support, but Tapatalk seems to be adding support for a number of additional forum types, something which will only solidify it's position in the market, absent any new players.

What I find frustrating with these apps, is you cannot add all of the forums you visit. (I could add none of the ones I use - after purchasing, I noticed there may be a free version of forum runner out there which is read only - but perhaps the FAQ on the website is out of date) It's inevitable that at least one forum will be written using some custom forum architecture, and we're back at square one with the user feeling frustrated, and returning to their web browser. Perhaps a fallback of some kind should be used: a client side configurable scraping system which enables users to read forums they add, even if they cannot post from the mobile app. Scraping has it's own issues, of course.

To those of you reading this, expect disappointment. To the developers, publish the forums your software supports on your website.

2.0 out of 5 stars Works on iPad, not on Kindle Fire. September 13, 2013

I cannot get any forums to load. The app searches and churns and churns, but no results come back. I use this on my iPad and iPhone just fine, but this version for Kindle Fire does not work for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not work July 5, 2013

Perhaps it was my fault that this did not work, but the fact remains, it did not work. It might have helped me if there was some trouble shooting help. The good thing was...I did not lose much money.
