Book Description

Seattle Lumberjacks, Book 2

Quarterback Tyler Harris is about to find the woman who can get past his defensive line and reach his heart.

With two championships in as many years, superstar Tyler Harris is the best quarterback in the league. Gorgeous and rich, he's at the top of his game. But everyone's looking to take him down. There's a building media frenzy around an unfortunate accident, and the only safe place seems a rundown mansion deep in the San Juans and owned by his late great uncle. There, Tyler gets sacked by the sassy redhead next door. It's more alive than he's felt in years.

Lavender Mead has a good reason to dislike jocks, namely an absentee father who deserted the family to coach college football. Maybe that explains her penchant for bad boys who play ball for a living and break hearts for a hobby. Her new neighbor seems just the type. Yet, something is different about Tyler, and sometimes love requires a Hail Mary. You draw back your arm, pray...and give it all up to fate. And sometimes you win your ring.

Seattle Lumberjacks Series:
Book 1: Fourth and Goal
Book 2: Forward Passes
Book 3: Down by Contact

Book 5: Time of Possession (Coming Soon)
Book 6: Roughing the Passer (Coming Soon)

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I cannot wait to read more books in this series, which features well-done football scenarios, interesting and believable characters, and enough steamy sex to turn a blue-haired grandma's hair more blue. I may have had to wait a while for Tyler's story, but it was worth the wait."--Wendy, the Super Librarian
"The sex is hot, hot, hot. In my humble opinion, it puts Fifty Shades to shame. Perhaps because Tyler and Lavender are dynamic, interesting characters."--Hooks and Books
"Tyler will forever be one of my top book boyfriends."--Guilty Pleasures
"Forward Passes is a decadent and emotion packed novel set in the beautiful San Juan islands that will have readers longing to go on vacation and find a football hero of their own."--Night Owl Reviews
"A terrific plot, romance, and tons of hormones pulsing throughout!" --Sweet n Sassi
"I loved this book!! My first Jami Davenport book but definitely not my last!" --Everyone Loves a SiNner
"A well-written story that allows two damaged people to conquer their demons and find the perfect person." --Sugar Beats Books
"A fun romp, I mean, read!"--My Bookmark Blog

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of sparks - a great read October 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
First off, can I say how much I love that Ms. Davenport writes guys so well? There's testosterone aplenty in this story, but it doesn't eclipse the relationship between Tyler and Lavender. Those two have got it bad. The sparks fly between them from the start and they've both got solid reasons to not get together. I enjoyed them sparring and getting along both. And the getting along? Sizzling!

Bottom line - I'm not a diehard sports fan, but I've become a Lumberjacks fan. I loved reading this book. It's hot, sexy, and has some great characterization.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story from a wonderful writer October 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I love football and love reading romance. IMHO, Ms. Davenport is the best at writing about both. She delivers a terrific story and a hero to fall for, while writing about a game she clearly knows well and also enjoys. The only problem is that the book cost me some sleep - it's hard to put down!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hot! November 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
What a wonderful and very hot romance! As a football fan myself (Go Cowboys!) I really loved the story from Tyler's point of view and seeing that as perfect he looks from the outside he has real insecurities inside that he just didn't want to deal with.

One thing I found very interesting was Lavender's back story. It deals with a real problem that does in fact happen in families where the parents are no longer together. It is called parental alienation syndrome or PAS for short. I think that Ms. Davenport really dealt with this situation very well. It added such a dimension to Lavender's character and to her relationship to Tyler.

Forward Pass is the second in the Seattle Lumberjacks series but is perfect as a standalone story. I have not read the first in this series but this was so good I know I will read it as well as the next book.

Caution: This book is for adults due to language and sex scenes.

I do love sports romances, especially football ones, but more than that, I really love me a jerk hero. And that is Tyler: cocky, rude, surly, bold, arrogant, and deliberately antagonistic at times. For some reason, I always find that charming. Don't ask me, I don't really know why, might have to do with that delicious play-by-play you get when you put said jerk hero with a spunky woman who can hold her own. With Ty and Lavender together, it felt snappy, the chemistry tight, and the sexual tension always bristling. I loved how they interacted, how they teased each other, tested each other, and played off each other.

Ty: I'm falling in dislike with you.
L: I'm already there. It's nice to know we're on the same page.
Ty: It's not just a page, it's a whole book.
L: Like you would know. Have you ever read an entire book?
Ty: Sweetheart, I can read your book just fine.

And you know he's all smug and over-confident and fine while telling her this. And she's riled up and feeling it. I love that. Lots of good tension and chemistry between these two. That was a scene early on, and the verbal foreplay got sexier, which led to some scorching sex scenes. In the back of his truck, on the dock, in the shower, on a plane: what can I say, the man is an athlete. It's supposed to be just some fun, no-strings sex while Ty is stuck on the island for ninety days due to his uncle's will, but you know 'just sex' turns into something more. And that was sweet, too. That scene where he puts her hand over his heart, all vulnerable and wanting her, that scene left me smiling.

I was talking to a friend about why we like jerk heroes, and it all comes down to seeing such a hero's redemption.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Life, and Heartache! November 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
***** Love, Life, and Heartache!

What do you do when things get out of your control?

Where do you hide so that no one knows your name?

When you are on top of the world how does it feel to be thrown to the bottom of the heap?

Some girls are attracted to the "bad" boys because they are in it for the thrill and some just do not know any other type.

So what do you do when you find yourself attracted to the "bad" boy for all the wrong reasons?

Is he really that bad or is it just an act or has he just been given a bad rap?

Do you let yourself find out by following your heart or do you listen to your head and stay well away?

Jami Davenport creates wonderful characters that are full of life and yet are real enough to let you imagine being friends with them. Forward Passes is an awesome story with wonderful characters and page turning twists. If you need a really good book to get involved in then check out Forward Passes! You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely! February 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Tyler Harris is the quarterback for the Seattle Lumberjacks, but his heart is not in it anymore. Losses in his life have left him with an empty space in his heart. He inherits a house in the San Juan islands that requires him to live there for 90 days. There he meets Lavender, who hates footbal jocks with a passion because her father is one and he abandoned her at 12. Tyler and Lavender feed on each others attitudes and develop a hate sex relationship that was hilarious and fun to read about. Although the book dragged a little in places and I got tired of Lavender's stubborn position against her dad, I loved seeing Tyler's progress from a confused jerk to compassionate athlete.
