The Foscam FI8905 is a wireless or wired IP camera solution for outdoor use. It combines a high quality digital video camera with network connectivity and a powerful web server to bring clear video to your desktop or smartphone from anywhere on your local network or over the Internet. The high quality video image is transmitted with 30fps speed on the LAN/WAN by using MJPEG hardware compression technology. The image resultion is 640 x 480 (300k Pixels). The Foscam FI8905 camera is based on the TCP/IP standard. The control, management and maintenance of the camera is done simply by using your browser to remotely configure and upgrade the firmware. The Foscam FI8905W IP camera can reach up to 30 meters of visibility in absolute darkness with 60 infrared LED's.

Mounted this on the house to monitor an entry about 150 feet away. Hook to my wireless router was easy and worked reliably for the last year. Good at transmitting pictures on motion detection. Picture quality not the best at that distance but adequate for intrusion monitoring. Have to keep resetting the contrast to get adequate picture quality at any distance between grey days and very bright days. Otherwise picture is too dark or washes out. this one better than my other foscams I use inside.

I ordered two of these to post outside on my garage after we had a break in. The picture is choppy and I get about 70% packet loss on the wireless side of things. I'm reading -69dB at the lowest point which should be just fine with any wireless device. I have a wireless camera in the garage and that one works fine even with the needed penetration through the walls. I'm disappointed in these as the brand is normally good for the indoor ones but lacks the good to deliver on the outdoor variety.

I couldn't believe how good this camera worked. At $105, I wasn't expecting much, but this camera delivers. The color isn't very good at night, but it's amazing how well the nightvision works. I already have ordered another.
