I bought this PoE splitter to use a non-PoE Foscam (FI8918) in a location where I didn't have a power outlet. I have a PoE switch in my garage to power my outdoor security cameras. I installed an Agasio A512-POE camera inside the garage to keep an eye on my tools only to discover that it put out so much RF interference that my garage door opener remotes no longer worked. The FI8918 didn't have this problem so I returned the Agasio and bought this splitter instead. It's hidden above the drywall in the garage ceiling with the camera mounted on the ceiling.

The only potential con I can think of is that output power wire from the splitter is only 5-6 inches long, so the splitter has to be mounted very close to the camera. In my case that worked out fine but I could see it causing problems for others if they wanted to hide the splitter.

Quite serviceable and easy to set up and put together. The only complaint I have is the size of the units. They are quite large when compared to the size of the cameras I am powering. While I understand these are purpose built, I have seen and used smaller devices. While this is nitpicking, I just wanted to give my honest appraisal. I found no issues in the setup and use of these and the variety of plugs provided and adjustable output voltage makes this very attractive for people that may have a variety of devices they want to power.

This product is required if you want to use 802.3af "real" PoE with Foscam products. I have this setup with a Foscam PT Dome Camera and a Cisco 300 series PoE switch. It was pretty much a plug and play install. The unit itself is a bit larger than I would have expected, but it was still small enough I could hide it in the wall one I took my wall plate off. The unit comes with a lot of different adapters for various DC plugs, so I could imagine if the voltage was correct as well as polarity, you could probably use this to make a lot of low power items PoE.

All that being said, I really wish all vendors would just switch over to 802.3af compliant PoE so I could stop buying adapters.

This device work great, except when the IR LEDs on my FI8905W come on at night, then this device starts to cut on and off. I tested with 2 switches and cables as short at 6' but still does the same thing.

This device ("Foscam Active PoE Spliter Adapter, IEEE 802.3af") has max input of 48 volts, which is incompatiable with "Foscam Active PoE Injector Adapter, IEEE 802.3af" which has max output of 56 volts!... meaning it gets hot as heck after a few minutes of working...then the ipcam stops working, and makes you wonder if its been fried... Can't be the Cat5e cable because i checked it with a southwire two end tester and it comes back with zero faults and 4 green lights...

I think the splitter might except for the fact that ist not compatible with other foscam product that is suppose to work with it... maybe an older or newer model incompatibility????

I previously purchased a TP-Link PoE kit which was the wrong choice, so I returned it for this item and the Foscam Active PoE injector adaptor. It works great and was easy to install. Naturally, it comes with the connectors necessary to attach to any Foscam camera (the TP-Link only came with one power tip which was the wrong size).

I had ordered several POE splitters from other companies that did't work with my camera. When I saw this one I contacted Foscam to verify it would fit my needs. Impressive, they contacted me back within an hour and told me it would work. Being the typical male that I am, I didn't read the instructions, I opened the box plugged it in, and it works perfect!
Thanks Foscam for great cusotmer service!

Couldn't have been much simpler. This took an older Foscam camera and let me do away with a power cord hanging down the wall. PoE works the same as if it was a true PoE camera.

Now I do not need Power or a Strong Signal for my FI9805W. The only thing you might want is the 10Ft power extender since the one provided is 6 inches.
