It's crazy how these thick insulated cables are a fraction of what you would pay for standard HDMI cables at Best Buy or Circuit City. It seems all these stores have sold into the mentality that Monster Cables seem put out on every product they make and that mentality is that quality matters. Now I would be the first to agree with this sentiment as paying for quality is better than going cheap on lots of things out there, and that's especially true for electronics. However there is a time and place for you to put your hard earned dollars on "quality."
Take analog audio cables for instance. The very nature of analog signals is they are susceptible to outside electrical interference that can affect the signal, and ultimately the sound quality you get. This holds true for speaker cables, RCA component jacks and everything else that carries sound via analog technology. So yes; if you want the best quality sound you should use analog cables that are properly insulated from outside interference. Also the larger the thickness of copper in the wire the more room the signal has to flow. So in this regard Monster is correct. Even if their analog cables are still too expensive and are sometime overkill for many home entertainment needs. Now the next type of cable out there involve moving digital signals. That would include technologies like fiber optics, RCA (yes the same as the audio RCA) and HDMI. Now digital signals are nothing but bits of data (ones and zeroes moving really fast) and are NOT affected by any electrical or magnetic interference. That means it doesn't matter the amount of insulation (aside from thick insulation helping fiber optic cables by reducing the risk of the fiber strands from breaking) or gauge of wire used for them. Digital is digital no matter how you slice it. This is why people keep saying don't bother getting expensive HDMI cables. Because as long as the cable follows the HDMI standard it was made for it will work just as good no matter what you paid for them. Now what's great about these cables is not only are they a good deal less expensive than the cheapest HDMI cables you can find at these electronic stores, but the quality is downright impressive! The cable has some pretty nice insulation, and while that don't do jack squat for the signal quality it does reduce the risk of the cables getting cut (or chewed in two if you have pets). Also the ends have some decent no slip grips, which is a plus when you doing your connecting via reaching behind your entertainment center and feeling your way through the ports. Also the connectors are gold plated. While technically that's not nearly as important on digital components than it would be on analog components it does ensure better conductivity of the signal than without the gold plating. Again a nice extra for "cheap" cables. Okay. Bottom line. Just get these cables. It's the best value for the money anywhere. Just make sure you get the right HDMI profile. Version 1.3 is the current standard. While 1.4 was recently released to the world it's only real benefit is 3D over HDMI and Ethernet over HDMI (I doubt the other features will come anytime soon on any consume product). So you can buy for the future and look for 1.4, but I normally recommend to buy for your current needs if there is a significant cost difference.

You would have to love to just give your money away to the big box stores to not buy this cable. It's a monster of a cable at a great price. Very well built & constructed. I said to myself at this price let's try it, was delivered in 3 days time & i was very happy with the purchase once i opened it and saw how well built it really was. From now on this is the only HDMI cable for me.

Using with a 42" LCD from a Sony Playstation3. The 1080p signal is very clear at all times and this product is comparable to any $60 and up Monster Cable. Or as I call it "Monster Rip Off". The average and even ABOVE average consumer cannot tell a difference if their cable is gold plated with gold from El Dorado or not. I highly recommend this product!

This cable is a very good buy. The clarity of picture is simply amazing. I have had no problems with it, and I would buy another one if I needed to. Also, the packaging is a skimpy plastic box, which is a good thing when it comes to opening and resealing it.

I will never get why people buy expensive cables. In fact, cable prices for anything skyrocketed over the past 5 years since the iPod came out. Seriously, do you remember when RCA cables used to cost $1.50 for a 6-foot cord? The same cable today is about $20.
That also goes especially with HDMI cables. People need them for high-definition. Stores mark them up big-time because it is an easily profitable revenue. Add to that, when you buy a high-definition television or a component from one of those retailers, you're not really going to comparison shop for a cable or order one online for a lot cheaper. It's also very profitable for the manufacturers of those cables. Walmart doesn't get much profit from them but the high mark-up is what the manufacturers get when it really doesn't cost all that much to make. This item came in a cheap, flimsy plastic box. But it's actually a good thing. I hate packaging waste and especially hate clamshells (which a lot of HDMI cables come in). I didn't care, as long as my item was new and it worked. It was new. It also worked. I waited a little while to write this review to make sure it doesn't spaz out on me. I've had HDMI cables do that after a week or so. Yep. It does everything a HDMI cable is supposed to do. Well, I don't know if it supports 3D. Everything else (movies, games, etc) is fine. But I don't need that next step-up in cable technology since I don't own a 3D television. I've been without an HDMI cable for a couple of years. Laid-off = No money and had to sell all my other stuff. Had to buy all the stuff back. But it's been awhile to even want to spend money on myself since I hardly do that. I finally, FINALLY caved in and bought this. I read many reviews and seen a lot of cables. This one is a tad few more dollars than some other cheap ones (who are you kidding? It's cheap anyways) but the reviews were iffy on them. This one was just right. And it works! :) So, don't waste your money on Monster or any other expensive brands. Read reviews carefully (good AND especially the bad), make your own conclusion on which one you need. I highly recommend this one right now. If it starts messing up in a month or so, I'll update this. So far, so good.

I purchased 10 of these hdmi cables because of the reviews said about them, well in my opinion since i regularly visit some electronic stores this product is well built and i tested each cable on my tv and the image and sound was as clear as the ones that cost more than 50 dlls,i recommend these cables and hopefully they work as good as they've worked with me.

All this is, is a digital data cable. Waveform on ons and offs is hard to distort. This cable is thick, well constructed, and it looks like a computer video cable. I use it on my desktop in the office. I have used it for a year now and it works great. I bought it for the looks, if you are building a home theatre, you can easily get HDMI cables on Amazon for $2 a piece shipped. They have a 3 pack to look for if you need a bunch of cables.
