Grade 10-12-- In the average reader's understanding, ``stories'' means something other than information presented in a succession of technical terms. True, there is a limited glossary to work with, but students would be better served by a collegiate dictionary. Paragraphs are too often units of three or four loosely related statements rather than sequential developments. Black-and-white photographs and amateurish line drawings generally don't do much to enhance comprehension. Carroll Lane Fenton's Tales Told by Fossils (Doubleday, 1966; o.p.) and Roy A.
