Got one pair for my mom and another for my uncle!

These reading glasses provide a great range of light so that reading, working with crafts, etc. are easier on the eyes.

They are great for reading in bed at night and reading menus in dimly lit restaurants.

I bought two pair of these from a large, national-chain drugstore locally. They come in colors, but I didn't find any selection there. They had the usual selection of diopter strengths, though. The glasses are clumsy, hard plastic (some of that is dictated by the battery compartments) and are slick and hard to keep up on one's nose.

These glasses are made with plastic lenses and the are very narrow, top-to-bottom. Still, I judge the quality of the lenses a little above some other reading glasses that I have bought, as they seem easier to read with. The frames are slick enough to give significant trouble staying on the bridge of one's nose and the temples are straight, one-size-fits-all design and will not prevent the glasses from slipping down. Each battery compartment holds two easily obtainable lithium batteries and the batteries are easily replaced. There are no easily seen instructions as to how the batteries are oriented, so pay attention as to how the old ones came out. The LED lights are nice and bright.

The reason I have two pair is that the same motion that turns off the light switch also releases the battery cover. I lost the cover on one pair and, according to the customer rep at Foster-Grant, no replacement covers are available. FG did offer to replace the whole set for a nominal fee, if I would send in the old pair. I procrastinated about sending in my old pair and eventually found the missing cover and so, now have two pair. That is really a good deal! (no kidding) Two pair might be a minimum. Moral of the story: tape your battery covers on with green label Scotch Tape, lest you lose them.

Another shortcoming of this product is that the screws(or bolts) that hold the temples to the front frame very quickly work their way loose.

    Caveat Emptor --

On Monday I purchased from a retail drug store a legitimate genuine pair of Foster Grant ("FG") Light Specs in +2.50 correction and liked them so much that I returned to buy a second pair. Unfortunately, they did not have another +2.50, so I ordered them from Amazon for about the same retail price later that evening.

The glasses that I received on Wednesday (Amazon Prime) were sold by a third party seller (who I am unfortunately not permitted to name) and fulfilled by Amazon.

Upon opening the box, I noticed that the Green FG brand sleeve packaging was not on the glasses, but that they were simply enclosed in a plastic bag. I also noted that they were not of the same heft and finish as my actual FGs, and that the battery cover on the left side was loose. In fact, it swung UP, unlike the FG battery covers, which slide back. The on/off switches were cheap switches located on the bottom of the frame, instead of just forward of the battery compartments, as on the actual FGs. The lens was also stickered with the diopter strength, unlike the legitimate glasses that have no sticker. And finally, the brightness was about 1/5 of that on my genuine FGs.

I buy EVERYTHING from Amazon, and this is the first instance of a clear counterfeit. Presumably, based on the positive reviews, some purchasers may have received legitimate FGs, but not me. I've reported this to Amazon, and they are now looking into it. In the meantime, you may want to steer clear.

I use it for reading when watching tv and don,t want to turn up lights in the room. I use to navigate at night , again without turningbup lights and disturbing my partner.
When I'm doing certain kind of work with tools or just need better lighting I use them.
At first I would wear then in a restaurant as a joke but now I use them as needed to read the menu in a dark resturanf or to just read easier.
Price is very good and I have bought a couple.
Batteries have been replaced twice. I found buying on line is much cheaper then in a retail store which is from 4-6.00. On line 1.50 from " cheap batteries"
    Enjoy

I have had these for two weeks and I use them regularly. The lights are just as bright as when I first purchased them. I think this is the perfect solution for reading in bed so as not to have bright lights on at night.

The Foster Grant Light Specs are awesome!!! They are the best readers I have ever bought. They fit comfortably, not heavy on the face, plenty of room on the sides, but still easy to look over the top. Easy to read while laying in bed, with no extra light except the lights on the specs. Also very convient when I'm doing crafting for extra lighting. Love them, recommend for anybody who likes to read at night or do detailed crafts.

These glasses were a gift for my Father and he loves them. They are great for reading in bed at night and reading menus in dimly lit restaurants. His only complaint is that one on/off switch isn't mechanically perfect, but still functions well enough.

I ordered these because I like to read in bed at night (mostly on my Kindle). My husband likes to sleep. When I leave the light on to read, guess what? Right. He can't sleep. I've tried flashlights, booklights, whatever. Nothing worked well. I saw these advertised on TV and hunted them down on Amazon. They're great! I've already used them so much that we've had to replace the batteries. (And that's another story...not easy.) I also have used them to walk around the backyard at night to make sure I don't step on frogs, etc. Lots of fun and more than practical. Everyone should have a pair to keep in the drawer next to the bed.
