This is a very well made metal hood that fits my Panasonic 14mm f2.5 lens perfectly.

This lens hood provides the necessary protection from direct sun light that can produce glare since the front element on this lens is almost flush with the lens body.
John M. Kubler
I'm using this hood on a Panasonic Lumix 14mm F2.5 and it shades the lens perfectly without vignetting.

Does what it does well, however be aware this is a screw-in type hood - it does not store on a lens in the "reversed" position or accept a lens cap, which makes it less than ideal for "travel" use. The hood *is* deep enough to provide a good deal of protection to the lens (or filter), and most of the time I'm comfortable wearing it on a strap and without a cap.

BTW, The inexpensive "Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 Black Custom-fit Leather Case" available on amazon will fit the GF1 with the 20mm prime and this hood, provides a reasonable option for additional protection, and I have posted a review of the case as well.

I swear by using hoods for my lenses because they prevent stray light which causes flare and ghosting and lowers scene contrast. They also offer your lens' front element some degree of protection from bumps or bruises.
As the Panasonic pancake primes do not come with any lens hood, this is one of the better options as it is fairly affordable.
And because the Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7 Aspherical Pancake Lens for Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Cameras front element group extends and retracts during focusing, it's even more important to have a lens hood so as to avoid any accidental impact damaging your lens.
There are drawbacks though, because the hood is a screw-in type, you're more than likely to keep it on thereby effectively minimizing the compactness of either pancake lens set-up. Using filters will mean having to remove the hood as well, even if the hood has a threaded part, it is difficult to maneuver a filter inside the hood.
If you still want to use a lens cap, you can use a 55mm cap on the hood. Though personally I've chose a small string cloth bag as a soft sock like cap.

This is a very well made metal hood that fits my Panasonic 14mm f2.5 lens perfectly. As others noted, you cannot use the stock lens cap with this hood. What they do not realize is you can use a standard 55mm lens cap or screw-in filter on the front of this hood. Considering 55mm lens caps are very cheap I don't consider this a problem. Because the hood isn't vented, when you use such a lens cap no dust can get to the lens.

- Update -

Just bought the Olympus 17mm f1.8 and it fits this perfectly as well.

As simple a product as they come, a screw on lens hood. It does exactly what it claims to do, does it well and the price is unbeatable - any review less than 5 stars misses some things - 1) if you complain because you can't use the lens cap with the hood, so what, lens caps are vastly overrated as protective devices, 2) if you complain because you can't reverse the hood, so what, it's not an OEM piece, there is no OEM alternative for the Panny 14 or 20mm lenses and these are pancake lenses so reversing the hood wouldn't make a lot of sense anyhow, and 3) if you complain because it is hard to remove, so what, stop being lazy - it's a screw-on hood and it's self-spoken that removal would require screwing it off.

Not much more you can ask for than "It fits" and "It works like a hood should". So I'll leave it at that.

I'm using this hood on a Panasonic Lumix 14mm F2.5 and it shades the lens perfectly without vignetting. The 46mm threads are smooth and screw on and off without a hitch. Fit and finish are good, and the matte finish is attractive in an industrial sort of way. The interior of the hood is painted with flat black paint to nix reflections. Leica style vents improve visibility with bright line viewfinders but reduce protection from dust and moisture. The main reason I use this hood is to protect the front element from hits and pokes since I don't use a lens cap. For seven bucks, this is a great deal and an effective and well fitting hood.

Good product at a good price. Only wish it could be reversed and attached with a bayonet but that is the fault of the lens design, not the len hood.

Wide angle lenses are particularly vulnerable to lens flare from off-axis illumination. This inexpensive unit provides reasonable shading (and protection from impact) for your $250 lens in a for not very much money. It would have been nice if, as others have noted, this shade stored on the lens in reversed position, but for $7 I'm not complaining. GIven that there's nothing similar available from Panasonic, it's a good choice for 14mm and 20mm Lumix owners.
