I have purchased four of these adapters to mount older, manual focus Minolta and Tamron "legacy" lenses on my Sony NEX-7 camera. I wanted each lens to have a dedicated adapter, so I wouldn't have to keep moving units from one lens to another.

All four units are TOP quality and are as good (or better) than adapters costing much more. They all "snick" tightly onto the lenses and attach easily to the camera. So far I'm using these adapters on:

1. Minolta Rokkor MD 50mm f/1.4 Lens

2. Minolta Rokkor MC 135mm f/2.8 Lens

3. Minolta Rokkor MC 300mm f/4.5 Lens (a MONSTER on the NEX-7)

4. Tamron SP 90mm f/2.5 Portrait/Macro Lens (with a matching Tamron extension tube for macro).

I purchased this adapter for use with my Sony Nex-5 with legacy Minolta SR-Mount (Rokkor/MC/MD) lenses. All of my lenses achieve both proper infinity focus and correct minimum focus distance. There are no apparent light leaks, and the images are superior in quality. The adapter has clear red dots on both sides for easy alignment, and is well made and easy to use.

The following are not negatives, but things you should be aware of. All of the lenses that can be used with this adapter are manual focus (this adapter will NOT work with Sony/Minolta Alpha, Maxxum, or AF lenses). Also, the attachment force for the minolta mount is heavier than that for the newer Nex E-Mount, so I exercise caution when attaching lenses to the adapter, and usually do so with the adapter detached from the camera. Lastly, although practical for some smaller lenses, the petite size of Nex/E-Mount devices leaves some of the larger Minolta lenses fairly absurd and impractical, albeit functional.

-- Update (January 2012)

Sony made the NEX5 even better for legacy manual lenses with their firmware version 1.03 (and now 1.04 I believe), available as a free download from there website. These firmwares give a "peaking" function, in which in-focus objects can be highlighted in a bright color (selectable between red and yellow). This makes manual focusing much faster and more positive, as the magnification focus-assist is no longer necessary for many shots. I would strongly advise anybody considering this adapter and the lenses it supports to get this firmware update.

Using this with my NEX 5R and then months later switched to an A7 means this adapter has gone through a lot of mounting/dismounting lenses. It has worked wonderfully in these past 9 months.

However, recently I started to mount larger lenses such as the Minolta 200mm f4.5 and the Minolta 135mm f3.5 for photos. With the tripod mount on the adapter, I opted to use that instead of the body on the A7 to preserve my mount bracket.

We only used it a handful of times and the tripod bracket on the adapter has come loose. Attempt to tighten it results in working mount for a few days and then play in the bracket start to happen. I am going to end up buying another one for the price, but just beware of the screws for the tripod mount!

I'm using this adapter with the Sony A6000 and a Minolta MD 50mm f1.7. The connection between the camera, adapter and lens all feel solid. It fits as comfortably as my true E-mount lens. I haven't tried the tripod mount. For the purposes that I need, i.e. attaching affordable lens to my sweet camera, this adapter works perfectly fine. As noted, you will need to focus manually and no aperture settings are saved in your pictures. However, the camera can still adjust ISO and exposure for you.

I have many Minolta lenses which retieved from my garage. This adapter is just wonderful. It is true that with the MD Minolta lenses one must manually focus. However the focus is simple; especialy with the the Nex 5N. I am using my 50mm an 100mm macro lenses amd my 50mm F1.2 lens as well as a 500mm reflex lens. The results have been striking. I cannot be more positive about this product. It complements all the avaliable kit lenses.

I have 8 different Minolta MD lenses and I was looking for anadapter with a tripod collar.

This one is working with all lenses I tried it on. They lock securely and unlock easy.

Some really mInor issues:

The tripod mount bracket could have been made a bit slimmer, perhaps rectangular rather than round.

The red dot should have been on the outside where it's easier to spot.

I have a number of good, old prime lenses that were put out to pasture years ago. This adapter (along with the Nikon equivalent) has breathed new life into these old guys. I'm using the NEX-5T as the body and it's amazing how well they work. My only concern is that this mount only uses three screws to hold together. My Nikon adapter (Pro version) costs more, but is built quite a bit better and uses six screws.

As another reviewer mentioned to get the lens in the adapter you have to exert a bit more than you would be comfortable using on a lens. I watched the mechanism from the other side while putting the lens on the adapter. thanks to the earlier reviewer for mentioning this, or I might have returned this.

The adapter is good, but the screws in the tripod mount are too short and it fell off. Luckily I wasn't using the tripod mount. The quality is good, so modifying with appropriate length screws is fine and will make it sturdy, but it should be proper from the factory, hence my 3 star rating.

very nice mount.it fits my Sony NEX-C3 with no issues. I tested 2 lenses .Minolta 135mm and the 50mm. too bad my camera doesn't have a view finder because its not easy to focus with zoom lens with the camera LCD .I didn't test the tripod mount, but it looks well built .
