I like to shoot landscape, night scenes and HDR. A tripod and a remote shutter release make these much easier.
I bought the FotoTech IR Wireless Shutter Release for my new Sony A6000, and it is perfect for the camera.
I got the camera to use on an extended backpacking trip, when weight and bulk will be critical.
The FotoTech wireless controller is small, light weight, easily packed, and best of all works great with the Sony.
I pulled it right from the box, removed the battery protector, set my camera remote option on, and started shooting. I've already used it indoors and out, from distances of 12 to 15 feet with no issues.
I cannot find anything wrong or problematic about the FotoTech wireless controller. It performs just as advertised.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a wireless remote shutter release for the A6000, or any other Sony camera.

Amazing!!! I love to shoot HDR bracketing with my Sony a7 and don't want any camera shake. The stupid camera doesn't have a self timer for bracketing so you're bound to get some shake and this little guy works perfectly. No programming necessary. One thing to note the ability to shoot with a remote is disabled by the Sony A7 camera by default you need to dig into the menu system to enable the remote. Amazing product for $10

I use this to shoot product/studio photography. It works as expected.
I do wish that it had the partial press focus as the shutter button on the camera has, but it doesn't. It focuses and fires the shutter simultaneously.
And the 2 sec button... Well, it fires it in 2 seconds. It's a win.

I just needed a remote to use on a new Sony A6000 to hold open the shutter in bulb mode for longer exposures and decided to try this little remote, mainly due to price and the number of good comments about it. It arrived very quickly and it works, for my purposes, like a little charm. For the price I paid, I'm a happy camper.

Disappointed. Would not work beyond one foot from my A6000. Returned for a refund and will try one more time from a different vendor.

12/17/14 Well I just received the same product from another vendor. I discovered that the Sony Half case I had on my A6000 was blocking the IR sensor. So my mistake and this remote works fine.

This little unit sure comes in handy when I have to rely on my camera being extra steady on the tripod. Lightly pressing the button about half way makes your auto-focus kick in (if you are using AF that is). Press a little harder and you've just taken a picture. It even has a 2 second timer on it that you can use also! The range on this one is much better than the one that came with my camera. I just wish Sony (and probably other brands too) would put a sensor on the back side of the camera so you could use the wireless remote from behind the camera....where you are usually standing! But that isn't the remote's fault. This is a great little gadget. I'm glad I bought it and would recommend it.

This handy gadget works better than the price would suggest. Just put in the included battery and point it at the front of the camera, click the button and presto, the camera takes the picture. The two second delay is great for "selfies" as it gives you time to movde your hand out of the picture. For the price, it cannot be beat.

This remote works perfectly with the Sony A6000. Just enable the remote feature within the camera menu and it works instantly.

A must have accessory when shooting from a tripod and using long shutter speeds. This device works well. Not much on bells and whistles but having a 2 second delay without going to the camera's menu is convenient. On my Sony alpha 7 I can trigger the camera from behind even though the manual only seems to show an IR sensor on the front of the camera. I have only used the device in close proximity to the camera so I cannot answer any question as to how far away you can get and still use the device successfully.
I would recommend this item to anyone in need of a remote trigger for an alpha series camera.

Have a Sony Alpha 57 and decided on a lark to buy a wireless remote. It does work, but there are a few things to note: the A57 camera has to be in wireless remote drive mode, so make sure that you have it in the right drive mode. The IR sensor is on the grip, so it will only work out in front of the camera. Additionally, the IR on the remote is not strong enough to cleverly bounce off of any reflective surface. You might get away with rigging up a mirror directly in front of the sensor if you really want to use the remote from behind or to the side.

Otherwise, the remote does what is expected: triggers the shutter on my camera.
