Product Description

Lens hoods extend and shade the end of lens preventing unwanted light straying into the lens. Since the end of the lens is extended, you get the benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Each dedicated lens hood was specifically created to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. Photographers can easily attach the lens hood on the dedicated bayonet mount, and after usage mount the lens hood on the lens in reverse for a compact storage solution.

Customer Reviews

Works fine, fits very good and does it's job well.
Juan Fernando Ortiz Gomez
I would recommend it to anyone before spending the money on the more expensive canon lens hood for this lens, unless money is no object to you.

It does screw on but is difficult at times to get in the correct postion.

I don't generally review products but I feel this is a great buy for the money. I had been looking for a lens hood for my Canon EF 28-135mm lens that came with my 50D lens kit and it didn't come with a lens hood as my previous camera setup came with hoods for the lenses..I dunno why Canon does that..I thought the price of the Canon lens hood was a little ridiculous as I am only a beginner photographer at best and am on a budget. I read the reviews on this product and for the price said what the heck. When I received it it came packaged just fine and once I got it opened I installed it on my lens and it works great. I haven't had any issues to this day with this lens hood. I would recommend it to anyone before spending the money on the more expensive canon lens hood for this lens, unless money is no object to you.

Well made hood that works perfectly with my 28-135mm lens. Even has the black felt inside to absorb reflections just like the Canon version, except at 1/3 the price!!

This hood is a good cheap replacement for the Canon model. It fits securely and does the job.

I purchased this hood to protect the Canon 28-135mm lens I have. It does its job. It's made out of a soft plastic that seems sturdy enough. Keeps stray light away from the lens and will help protect it from unexpected impacts. The hood locks on securely and stays on. Over all I would Recommend this to anyone with a desire to protect their investment without paying for the brand name.

I find myself taking pictures against the sunlight half of the time now since I discovered my pictures have much better impact if done right...Once in a while, sunlight gets in and created unwanted effects so I thought I'd need a lens hood. I didn't really want to spend a whole lot on a hood since I may upgrade to another lens within a year or so.

I received the hood today...delivery took a week which is on the slow side for Amazon but otherwise the hood arrived in perfect condition. The hood is just as pictured, is made out of plastic and is solid. There is no felt on the inside but surface has a rough pattern that appears flat and non-reflecting.

It positively snaps on the lens. The fit is good - no wiggling. The hood can also be mounted on the lens backwards for transport.

This hood looks identical to the Canon OEM hood so I don't see why it wouldn't work. I will give it a workout and report back.

I ordered the Fotodiox EW78B-II equivalent to outfit my Canon 28-135mm with the lens hood that *should* have been provided by the manufacturer. Like the other reviewers, I was of course skeptical of the quality of product I would receive for such a small amount of money. I am extremely pleased to say that both the build and fit of the hood is excellent. Although the inner surface of the hood is not flocked [felt lined] like the OE version, it is nicely textured which should help to diffuse any stray light that might attempt to bounce into the lens. Overall, the cost-benefit ratio for this hood is skewed entirely in Fotodiox's favor. I typically like to own OE accessories, however in this instance I honestly cannot imagine why someone would pay 600% more to purchase the OE hood over this version. Highly Recommended.

Not as high of quality materials as a Canon hood, but the Canon hood is a rip-off and this one is just fine. Fits on my kit 28-135 lens nicely.

Works great. feels solid, and does what its supposed to do. It'll protect your lens from accidental bumps, and It removes stray light well. Why would you pay 30$ for the "Official" Canon brand one, when you can get this for around 5$ + shipping. It does just a good of job, and is a fraction of the price of the name brand. If you need a lens hood for your 28-135, just buy this.
