The quality of the light is impressive.

The ability to adjust the color temperature really came in handy in urban environments where there was a mix of tungsten balanced street lights and neon signs.
B. Wilkat
The brightness can be adjusted between a very faint light to 100%, which is very bright.

This year I published a book on lighting with LEDs. I've worked will all sorts of large and small LED panels but this one is the best combination of small, light, powerful, flexible and cheap. You won't be able to overpower the sun with this panel and you certainly won't be able to freeze fast action as you would with flash but if you are into video and creative, continuous light photography this is a great panel to have. The knobs that color color balance and output are smooth. They have very good battery life and the color, with digital cameras, is good. They are light enough in weight so that you can comfortably carry four or five around in a shoulder bag. They can match most ambient light colors well. I'll use two of them through a diffusion panel as a main light for portraiture. A third one can light up a back wall and a fourth can work as a hair or accent light. I love em and for the price they are a bargain.

I've read and viewed just about every review there has been on this light as of 7-13-11, and every one says about the same thing, which I found to be very accurate. The only things I would add is, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a sense of how bright this light would be. So, I bought it from Amazon to be sure I had the sense of security I could return it if needed. Turns out the light is bigger physically than I expected, and VERY bright indeed when on full brightness.

What I wasn't expecting, and what has never been mentioned before, is that my unit was defective because the plug that went into the charging stand was loose, and made only intermittance contact, and that same plug (from the AC converter) could also power the unit from the electrical mains, it was also loose in the socket of the light fixture, so when the light fixture moved a bit, and it wiggeled the charging cord, the light fixture would flicker as the power connection failed and then connected, back and forth.

I returned the item to Fotodiox, and after a few days of UPS Ground shipping, it arrived on July 5th, and they processed the full refund on that following Friday. I used Amex just in case it wouldn't work out.

Fotodiox then replied they couldn't send me a replacement because they tested the units in their remaining inventory, and turns out they were all defective for the same reason. Photodiox said they were expecting a new shipment in July, but so far, after two requests by email, I haven't heard if they have received a new, defect-free batch.

But I see now, they are still offering the product for sale on Amazon this date, so I don't know what's happening. The price I bought mine for was $239.95, and they're offering it now for $10 less.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. . . unwrapped this ridiculous plastic toy and immediately the buttons that are meant to hold the batteries securely in fell off, one into the body of the cheap plastic case itself, the other one slightly skewered. It is absolutely shameful that they're trying to sell these as a legitimate piece of equipment.

It was a total waste of time. Hated even having to box it back up and get it round to UPS for it's journey back to Amazon and then presumably the bin.

Awfulk experience, awful product, I assume that these are not checked or verified when put up for sale. A total dismal failure.

Let's see, it's cheap, it has a rainbow of colors temperatures to choose from and it feels like a decent piece of hardware. Over the last 5-7 years I have experimented with many lighting solutions, form halogen work lights, cans with tungsten bulbs, LED Work light and several small LED light meant for hot shoe mounting. THEY ALL SUCKED, and what sucked was temperature, I could never get great temperature in mixed environments. This little job, flawless, one complaint potentially is that it is a little large for a shoe mount camera, I think it would actually suck as one. But to use this as three point lighting, amazing. I bought one of these to try out on my Tamrac TR406 ZipShot Compact Ultra-Light Instant Tripod and it worked great. I'm buying two more to have the cheapest easiest to use lighting setup in the industry, AND it will fit in a small bookbag. Compare this to the Lowel Blender, 120V and 240V LED Light Head with 4 Diffusers, for $150 for the Fotodiox, the blender cant even compete!

I've not had the chance to use this light for actual video yet, but I have been running tests with it. With two fully charged batteries, initial light runtime is approximately 3.5 hours. The lights fade quite nicely between color temps. The light is quite bright, although it does have somewhat of a spotlight effect, especially when the diffuser is not in place. The dimmer also seems quite effective. Pleasantly surprised to find that the light came with a diffuser that attaches to the front of the light using magnets for easy off an on.

Carrying case is definitely not very heavy duty, and does not seem like it would hold up to much wear and tear. All the same it is nice to have. Light does to seem especially heavy duty, but it seems as though it could last for a fairly long time, as long as care is taken with it to not push its boundaries. For the price, I am quite happy... at least to start. Once I use it in real world situations, I will try to remember to update this review.
