Product Description

The Fotodiox Pro Nikon-EOS Lens adapter allows you to place your favorite Nikon lens on your Canon EOS camera body. This adapter gives you the ability to use your irreplaceable prime lens and saves you the cost of purchasing new lenses. The adapters are precision made to insure the perfect fit. The lens will fit physically, but the automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, and other functions will not operate correctly while using this adapter. In this case, "stop-down mode" will need to be used when metering, since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body. You can shoot in manual or aperture priority mode. Infinity focusing is guaranteed.

All my Nikon Lenses fit perfectly onto my Canon 5D Mark II.

You do have to push IN on the release to get it to slide off and remove from lens, which is not easy at first.
T. Knight
I am happy with the quality, is is not cheap, it fits very well, and works fine with no play.

I bought the Fotodiox Pro Nikon F to Canon EOS lens adapter to experiment with using old Nikkor manual focus lenses on my Canon cameras. Fotodiox offers three models of Nikon F to EOS adapter; this is the mid-price one. I bought it because the cheapest one gets mixed reviews, with some people complaining that it doesn't hold lenses tightly enough. Only the most expensive, on the other hand, includes a chip that allows your Canon camera to confirm focus by lighting up the AF points in the viewfinder. I chose this one because I wanted my lenses held firmly and I figured I could live without focus confirmation. (Also, the focus confirmation model costs twice as much, and I couldn't find it on Amazon anyway. You can order it directly from Fotodiox if you like.)

This adapter does its job pretty well. It does indeed hold lenses firmly. My one fairly minor annoyance with the adapter is that it is kind of a pain to remove from a lens, and in fact you have to figure out how to remove it because there are no instructions provided. (There is a small black lever on the camera side of the adapter that you have to hold down to release the lens. It isn't easy to press the lever down and twist the lens at the same time, but with a little practice you get used to it.)

Another thing that is worth knowing is that not all Nikon F lenses will actually mount and be usable on your Canon camera even with an adapter. This is not the adapter's fault. Some lenses have parts that stick out the back end and may (on some camera models) interfere with the motion of the reflex mirror, or even prevent the lens from being attached by bumping into some part of the camera's insides. It's best to do some research online first to find out whether a lens you're interested in will work with your camera.

I was skeptical that I could use my Nikon lenses on my new Canon T2i, which I purchased for video work. I was even more skeptical after purchasing some of the $10 adapters from Hong Kong, which did not fit tightly and made it difficult to focus cleanly. But I gave it one last shot by purchasing the Fotodiox Pro adapter - and it paid off big time. The adapters work great, and are tight fitting. There's no loss of light whatsoever, and you can focus fully throughout the entire range. It's well worth the extra money to purchase these and put your Nikon glass to work.

The Fotodiox Pro adapter for Nikon Lens to canon EOS is great. All my Nikon Lenses fit perfectly onto my Canon 5D Mark II. I had to shoot everything manual since the lens can't "talk" to the body with the adapter but I prefer shooting manual so no complaints. For the price and the fact you can use all your Nikon's on the Canon, it's a no brainer.

This adapter fits and works, but only for lenses with aperture rings. Newer G style lenses without an aperture ring will stop down to smallest f-stop and be nearly unusable. If you want to operate a G style lens, then order the G style adapter from Fotodiox.(see link below). This is a fine adapter for older style lenses. Note that removing it from the lens is tricky. You must depress the spring release on the lens body and then carefully rotate the adapter.

Awesome adapter but pricey.

Mounting Nikon lenses to EOS Canon.
I have a 5D mark ii, fotodiox pro adadpter, Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AIS lens with the existing tab sticking out and unmodified. If looking from the front, you have three different angle options to mount the lens on to the adapter. Only one of the three works and does not conflict with mirror. The other two lens-adapter mounting angles will conflict with the mirror on the camera. You will see this conflict when your videos or photos show darkness on lower half. I found out the same thing with a Nikon 24mm f/2.8 ai and Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AI. I also have the fotodiox v2 and same above applies. I have no experience with the 5D classic. Canon t2i (550d), the above lenses and adapters worked at all mounting angles and never had a conflict.

To confirm prior reviews: Yes, this mid-priced Fotodiox Nikon-to-CanonEF lens adapter (marked "PRO")--is absolutely snug. No play or movement when focusing or adjusting apertures. I tried it with all combinations of the following camera bodies and lenses:

Canon 5D Mk II
Canon 7D
Nikkor 50mm 1.4 AiS manual focus lens
Nikon 50mm 1.8 E-series manual focus lens (a.k.a. the "pancake" or "lens whacker")
Rokinon/Samyang/Vivitar 85mm 1.4 manual focus lens

Be wary of the Fotodiox non-"Pro" Nikon-Canon adapters in the $16-$26 range (see below) as well as the RainbowImaging adapter--all had play between the adapter and the camera body that is VERY jarring on video playback. This one is jiggle-free.

If you're shooting stills only and don't mind some mount movement, the play in the non-Pro versions ($15-$25 models) will not affect focusing if you're careful. But I'd recommend spending a bit more and getting this or another "Pro" version.

Tip if you opt for a non-pro version: Wedge a small, thin pen knife blade into each of the slits and slowly but firmly twist to expand each slit. Then, apply three small sections of scotch tape on both the ring surfaces that make contact with the lens and with the camera. This will reduce but not eliminate the play.

How to identify the looser-fitting design: Fotodiox calls these "Consumer," "C," or omits the word "Pro." The consumer versions have "slits" inside each of the three SOLID lens-to-adapter mount bayonets. The PRO versions has thin c-shaped leaf springs that have a larger gap space. They look similar but you can see the Pro leaf spring design clearly on this model's product image.
