just wanted to write a quick review to let everyone know this indeed fits a Pentax K-x DSLR and is much cheaper than the official Pentax brand hood. Fits well, looks good, cheap!

I ordered this hood for my K-x 18-55mm kit lens, it fits well, easy to attach and detach. I ordered new but when it arrived it didn't look new, oh well it's not glasses, only a couple of bucks, what can I say?

I'm using it on a Pentax K-x 18-55mm lens and it seems just fine. The only drawback is that it's a bit too bulky to remain on the lens in my smallish camera bag, but it's literally a snap to pop it on and off as needed. If you've not used this style of lens hood before, note that the flanges automatically align correctly when you snap it on, so they do not appear in the image frame.

the (petal) lens hood has some noticeable flex to it (does not feel sturdy), and does not connect solidly to the lens hood mount on the pentax DAL 18-55 (when connected there is some wobble room) overall its an ok item, but still ridiculously expensive for cheapo molded plastic. Also i cut myself trying to remove the filter adjust tab.

the rainbowimaging (JJC branded) 50-200mm 52mm replacement rbb (round) lens hood (not an RBA replacement, will probably cause vignetting on 18-55mm lens, but i thought i would include it as a comparison) has less flex, connects solidly to the 50-200mm and I had no problems removing the filter adjust tab. So it reflects poorly on fotodiox that this smaller (albeit petal) hood is of cheaper build quality.

Does what it needs to do. It blocks out excessive sun light pretty well. Makes my pictures on a sunny day in Atlanta much better.

It probably came off the same line as the official Pentax item, and sells at a fraction of the price. Came quickly (using Amazon Prime).

This is a bayonet sytle hood and does not attach via the filter ring thread (that's a good thing). The bayonet style hoods do not interfere with mounted filters or a lens cap, and can be stored backwards on the lens for travel in most camera cases. The only improvement I could wish for is if the manufacturer had placed some white paint in the molded indexing mark. That would make attachment slightly faster.

These Pentax clone lens hoods by Fotodiox are as good or better than the OEM version at 80% less. So cheap that I bought a few spares so I'm never again concerned about losing one. "Knock me down and call me Susan. Good work Fotodiox!"

What can I say? This is a perfect fit for my Pentax 18-55 WR lens. Even has the little slide-off window for operating a circular polarizer with the hood on, just like the "real" Pentax hood. Brilliant. :)

Fit of the lens hood on my Pentax lens is so loose that the hood falls off if you are not careful. I finally gave up and it now resides at the bottom my camera bag -- subsequently I purchased a collapsible rubber lens hood that screws onto the lens and this works much, much better.

Pretty solid lens hood for the money. I like the option of removing the piece off of the hood for extra lighting. Solid product. Buying a second one.
