Book Description

Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins is back on the force. Before she can get comfortable with her new partner, newly-promoted DS Katy Foster, the two are assigned a tragic murder case that looks like a robbery gone wrong. However, when another wealthy footballer's family meets the same deadly fate within twenty-four hours, it is clear the crimes involve something far more sinister.

Keeping her focus on unravelling the complex case isn't easy for Lorne when she learns news that throws her personal life into a spin--her fiancé, M16 agent Tony Warner, is involved in a dangerous covert operation in Afghanistan. But innocent people are dying on her patch, and someone must catch the killers. Lorne can't allow this Foul Justice to prevail.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read! May 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I could not put this book down.

This book is beautifully written and kept my interest throughout. I wanted to know what was going on with the case Lorne was working on, and wanted to know more about the new characters. I feel that Mel Comley balanced this perfectly.

I have to admit, at first I was a little apprehensive, due to my love for Lorne's last partner.. but her new partner is just as awesome! I feel that she compliments Lorne's personality well.

Foul Justice kept me kept me guessing throughout. There were parts where I laughed, and even cried! The ending was absolutely superb and a truly fitting end for our lovable detective!

It deeply saddens me that this book is the last in a series that has affected my so deeply; I truly feel as if I know the characters and am sad to say goodbye to them. I wish Mel the best in all her future endeavors and will always be silently wishing to see Lorne and the gang again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lorne is back! May 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The 4th book in the series sees Lorne rejoining the Met and investigating a series of brutal robberies/murders. Not only has she got a new job and a serious case to deal with, she's also worrying about her fiance, Tony, who's sent on a secret MI6 mission, 2 weeks before their wedding.

The plot and writing will draw you in instantly, and I think this is probably my favourite of the Justice series. I hope she'll be making a come back in the future! If you're looking for a fab fast-paced thriller, look no further.

3.0 out of 5 stars Customer Comments December 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Too much description of events such as past history, clientel at bars, clothing being worn and individual drinking habits. In other words, it rambled on and on with nothing improved at the end of the chapter.

5.0 out of 5 stars M.A.Comley at her best !!! September 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is another great novel by M.A. Comley, the fourth in her Justice Series. I would suggest whoever wishes to read this series to start from the first instalment - Cruel Justice, since all characters and storylines develop through the novels.

In Foul Justice, D.I. Lorne Simpkins is back on the force after an absence of two years. With no chance to settle down in her job, she is immediately faced with problems from day one. She is handed over a major gruesome robbery/murder case in which wealthy footballers' families have been targeted. She also has a new partner to contend with, Sergeant Katy Foster who didn't exactly click with her from the beginning. Lorne is also very concerned about the love of her life, Tony, who has been dispatched to Afghanistan on a secret dangerous mission.

In this novel we see Lorne's investigative skills at their best. The author paints a picture showing Lorne's capability of identifying and understanding other persons' situations, feelings, thoughts and attitudes.

Another thumbs up for M.A.Comley !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "TIMELY SUSPENSE-FILLED SURPRISES" September 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Another Comley novel in her 'Justice' series finds a place on my top shelf. In 'Foul Justice' this talented author continues to build on the previous stories with excellent pace, dialogue, and realistic characters. With every turn of a page, Comley unfolds another plot-moving surprise. Main character, Lorne, is teamed with a new partner as they embark on another crucial crime. Lorne returns to her detective mode after several years off of the force, and slowly brings her rookie partner, Katy, up to speed.
Lorne's love, Tony, is called away to Afghanistan on a dangerous mission which keeps Lorne is torn between the work at hand and the safety of her future husband.
Like a painter, Comley adds layer after layer of suspense and takes the reader to a quick-paced conclusion, setting the stage for the sequel 'Ultimate Justice', and you can believe I'll dive into that one. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys well-written mystery/police novels. "Thank you, Mel, for another excellent read. Keep writin' and smilin'..."

5.0 out of 5 stars They keep getting better! June 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cannot get enough of this storyline! Amazing! Simply amazing!
Mel has done it again. Lorne gets hit with another painful jolt just when things seemed perfect for her. She has not felt this alive in a few years. Things are finally going smooth for her. She actually finds herself again. And then another huge heartache, yet she stays focused, as focused as she can under the circumstances. She tries to stay positive, keeps her chin up and her shoulders back in spite of how she feels on the inside. Her tough outer shell keeps her positive, no matter what gets thrown at her.
Going to start Guaranteed Justice now. Have to see what lies ahead!

Decent story line, likable characters, interesting. Some of the writing needs a bit of tweaking. For example, "virtually non-existent" is not a good use of language. Read more
