Good choice if you buy it,

The EP starts with "Day tripper" the best Beatles cover ever heard!! It's even better then the original. This song made me a Beatles fan.I thought:" a band who can write this kind off stuff cant be that bad :-))"Can't hold on" is a very strong ballad. It's a typical Cheap Trick song and when you hear Robin Zander singing you know what I mean.He makes the difference in this song.. "Such a good girl" takes you back to the " In Color.." sound.(their second album) You'll like it. "Take me I'm yours" is also a typical CT-song.Sounds simple but a good listener finds some nice tricks in the chords and lyrics.

How badly do you need this?,

Made in JAP in 2003, Serial# MHCP-2015, Playing Time 17:21Originally released on 10-inch vinyl back in 1980, this EP came as a limited edition with a bonus, single-sided 7-inch disc, which featured an edited version of "Everything Works If You Let It", unfortunately absent for this CD release. Track 1, a live version of the Beatles' "Day Tripper", has since been released countless times on CD in the same edited version presented here... the full-length version only available, at least to my knowledge, on the "Sex, America, Cheap Trick" box-set. Track 2, a live version of the Rick Nielsen-penned "Can't Hold On", has since been released on the "Budokan II" and "At Budokan - The Complete Concert". The last 2 tracks, "Such A Good Girl" (written by Nielsen) and "Take Me I'm Yours" (written by Nielsen and Zander), haven't seen the light of day on an official CD until now... Both of these leftover tracks, quite different in tempo and style, are easily recognizable as CT songs because they have the trademarks from their late 70s material. They're not gems by any stretch of the imagination, but solid tracks (they're not demos or unfinished songs) with completed production work. You'll have to decide whether 7-and-a-half minutes of "unreleased" music is worth the price of admission... I didn't hesitate, even though I still have my vinyl pressing!

JON BRANDT OVER TOM PETERSSON?,
By
This review is from: Found All Parts (Audio CD)
Dude here who would call Tom Petersson a "mediocre bassist" is not a real Cheap Trick fan. Jon Brandt was a fine fill in, but the real essence of what makes Cheap Trick great was the original four members, including one of the rock solid and most creative bassists of all time, Tom Petersson. Smoke that!

All four of these songs are included on the reissue of All Shook Up, which sells for $11.98, so there's no point in picking up this pricey EP.

More Tricks Than A Monkey In A Mile Of Grapevine.,

I bought this on vinyl when it first came out in 1980. I enjoyed all 4 tunes as well as the 45 of "Everything Works If You Let It". All are typical Cheap Trick tunes and I have never grown tired of hearing them.It was definitely worth the $15.00 I coughed up for my used copy through a local retailer. But I am a Cheap Trick fan from way back. Had I not found the used copy I would have broken down and spent the $21.00 for this import version.

4 great songs you will love if you like Cheap Trick. Now some truthiness. Track 1, "Day Tripper," was not actually recorded live. The band did record a live version of this song but did not like the result. They went back into the studio and re-recorded it and added in the crowd noise from the original version. Track 2, "Can't Hold On," was recorded live at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan at their now infamous concert there in 1978. Tracks 3 and 4, "Such A Good Girl" and "Take Me I'm Yours," were not recorded in 1976 and 1977 as stated in the liner notes, but between December 1979 and January 1980. If you don't want to shell out the extra cash to buy this Japanese pressing (as it is currently not available elsewhere) then you can get all 4 of these tracks on the 2006 re-release of the "All Shook Up" album in all regions except Japan.

Is this worth it?,
By
This review is from: Found All Parts (Audio CD)
Good grief.... YES!!!! Cheap Trick is Cheap Trick! I would pay $25.00 for each of these songs. Who needs to get philosophical about it, we all waste money on something. Don't worry about it, buy it, you will be glad you did.

Found 'em? Cheap Trick only briefly lost them!,

Back when the major labels were experimenting with the 10" 'Nu-Disc' alternative to 12" LPs, Cheap Trick did the same. The Four track 'Found All The Parts was 75% excellent! I just don't really care for the song Can't Hold On. The Beatles cover Day Tripper is GREAT! In fact, it is my humble opinion that the Tricksters doing what they did here inspired many bands (my own included) to take songs they wanted to cover and add their own little signatures, rather than just a note-by-note regurgitation.Such A Good Girl and Take Me I'm Yours are just spectacular, textbook Cheap Trick tunes that show that the Beatles weren't the only ones who could achieve 'that' sound. Nielsen is a very good guitarist. The only reason he's not rated as excellent is because (and I think this is a good thing) he concentrates on being interesting rather than technically superb. Petersson is a MORE than adequate bassist who approaches bass the same was Nielsen approaches guitar. Robin Zander is a tremendous vocalist, and Bun E. Carlos is really quite a good drummer. Everything together, with Found All The Parts, you've found all the parts. Cheap Trick never lost 'em. They just put them away for a few LPs.

I love Cheap Trick (well I did when they Jon B Brant in the band) but this brings back good and bad memories!,

Finally! This half Live / half studio EP has finally been issuedon (Import) CD - and digitally remaster for our earwax comfort! Bless Rick, Rob and Bun E. for this! But it's too short. I was glad to see T.J. Peterson, a mediocore Bassist go, but unfortunately it took his almost ruining the All Shook Up lp to do it. Then the record company forced Jon out and recycled Tom for the second or third time and they've been going downhill ever since [Woke up (dead) with a monster [Peterson?} was the worst! *.5 stars! But this is much better, albeit shorter... |
