Good things come in small packages,
By
This review is from: Found: God's Will (Find the Direction and Purpose God Wants for Your Life) (Paperback)
I purchased this tiny book a few years ago. It is what anyone who is wondering what God's will is or how to know God's will needs, including non-Christians. I have purchased several additional copies of this book and given them to people. The premise is that, to know God's will, you must be living obediently and reading God's word and praying. When you are close to God, his will is obvious and your choices are his choices. He gives you the desires of your heart meaning the desires that you have when you are close to God are his desires for you. This is an amazing book. It's a quick read, too.

This review is from: Found: God's Will (Find the Direction and Purpose God Wants for Your Life) (Paperback)
Found: God's Will by MacArthur is a small, short 61-page booklet that quickly distills down the Bible's answer to the question, "What is God's will for my life?" This is not primarily an in-depth study of the nuances of God's will or the difference between his sovereign will and his moral will. It pastorally addresses those who are seeking to know God's specific will for their life. Many are paralyzed to inactivity because they fear that what they want to do might be outside of God's will. We know that God desires that best for His children so we want to make sure that we don't ruin his plans, and thus we want to know God's will: Should I go to this school or that one? Which job should I take? Should I marry? Whom should I marry/date?
While MacArthur's treatment of the answer to that question is no where near exhaustive (you might want to consult Friesen and Maxson's Decision making and the Will of God for an attempt at a more exhaustive answer and exploration of God's will), his book gets quickly and effectively to the heart of the matter by expositionally applying many of the Biblical texts that talk specifically about God's will. The summary of the book's contents about God's revealed specific will is that you be 1. Saved 2. Spirit-filled 3. Sanctified 4. Submissive 5. Suffering If you are within God's revealed will on those 5 areas (each of which gets a chapter), then the conclusion is to do whatever you want. MacArthur writes, "You see, the will of God is not primarily a place. The will of God is not, first of all, for you to go there or work here. The will of God concerns you as a person. If you are the right you, you can follow your desires and you will fulfill His will." Found: God's Will is a quick read and a great place to start in your desire to discover what God's will is for your life. I am no great speed reader and I finished the book in about two hours even reading the Biblical references and taking notes as I went. As an introduction and a tool to set your heart aright in your search for God's will, buy and read Found: God's Will by John MacArthur.

God's Will isn't as elusive as I once thought,
By
This review is from: Found: God's Will (Find the Direction and Purpose God Wants for Your Life) (Paperback)
This book is very short and to the point. I love how MacArthur continually upholds Scripture as the starting and ending place for all things. This book is a continual testimony of how God's Word is the ultimate and only authority for all of life. By reading this book, I now understand that God outlines His Will very clearly in Scripture, and I don't have to look for a "peace" from Him. In fact, doing so is unbiblical! I found, through this book, Scriputre has an answer for ANYTHING I might need, and as I am in God's Word more and more every day, I continually find this to be true. I would recommend this book to all Christians to buy and read and give to all their friends.

Struggling with God's Will for Your Life?,
By Jay C. Michael (Oxford, Mississippi, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Found: God's Will (Find the Direction and Purpose God Wants for Your Life) (Paperback)
Found: God's Will is a must read and a quick read. This is an excellent book by a leading conservative theologian/teacher. Don't be concerned with wading through technical, theological jargon. MacArthur writes on a level that helps anyone concerned with God's will for his/her life. You will not want to put the book down. Look for a surprise in the last chapter, but start reading with the first chapter!

Insightful and to the Point,
By
This review is from: Found God's Will (Paperback)
Dr. MacArthur starts with the premise that God has a will and is willing to make it known to us. That's a pretty good foundation upon which to base a book with this title. Before an individual can know God's will, he must have a relationship with God, therefore the prerequisite is to become born again, born of the spirit, as he explains in the second chapter. From there he goes on to discuss spiritual gifts, noting that the best way to discover your gift is to observe yourself. In the last chapter he offers some particularly useful teachings on God's will and open and closed doors. His discussion includes the practical and the spiritual. This book will help you to discover God's purpose for your life.

Answers to the often elusive question,

Knowing God's will is often a topic of extreme confusion. How do we know what God wants for our life? This book explain the issues clearly and gives the truth from Scripture regarding how we may know absolutely what God wants us to do. An excellent read.

An assistant pastor gave me this little book in high school 20 years ago, and I still have the copy and refer to it often. It's not full of deep spiritual insight, just down-to-earth practical Bible truths. I've looked at it over and over again and still haven't mastered it, but I still find it refreshingly true. God has a plan for our lives and has revealed it to us. It's not mystical, secret or elusive, but demands obediance. Now I'm ordering copies to teach my middle-school Sunday School class with. This is a GREAT BOOK!

God's will made plain for every person.,

This review is from: Found: God's Will (Find the Direction and Purpose God Wants for Your Life) (Paperback)
This short book is a delight to read. The content is thoroughly Biblical. I recommend it to every person who is seeking to know God's will for their life. It shows what the will of God is for every person from the Scriptures. God desires us all to be saved, submissive, Spirit-filled, soul-winning, and if we do these we will suffer for Christ. I gave this book to several friends. It is a must read for every believer!

John helps you see exactly, from scripture, what the will of God is. He pulls no punches yet shows us the love and grace of God at the same time. You have to read this book. The read it again, and again. Then give one to a friend or two.
