Emmie was spending the year teaching at the local elementary school through a church-sponsored program. Michael had returned from California to his father’s native village to help a bounty hunter track down a bail jumper. Instantly smitten with beautiful, gentle Emmie, Michael promised himself he’d tell Emmie why he was in town once the elusive criminal had been found and sent back to California. But the mission went awry, and Michael was spirited out of the country before he could reach Emmie.
Five years later, Michael hires Maggie Tyrell of the “Finders, Keepers” detective agency to track down Emmie for him.
