I'm always excited to get a chance at listening to new music, as the range of styles I listen to is pretty wide. Like with most CD's I automatically add them onto my iPod, so that I can listen to them wherever I am. The first listen through of Push Plays new album Found had me feeling like I was back listening to former boy bands like New Kids On The Block,`N Sync and Backstreet Boys. For me this wasn't a good thing. I did listen to the CD a second time, but because I knew I likely wasn't their target demographic I eventually handed it off to my daughter who is 15. Two days later I asked her opinion and it wasn't that great. She's not a fan of the Jonas Brothers or similar Disney-esque type acts and although there were songs like "Midnight Romeo" which had some mature references - she said it was just "Too Pop and Too Average" for her to keep listening to. There's obviously an age range and music type that will enjoy Push Play, but apparently neither myself or my daughter are it.

Boy Bands are back!,

Do you miss the group harmonies of `N Sync? Do you miss the group choreography of Backstreet Boys? Do you secretly love the sounds of the Disney Channel? If you said "yes" to any of these questions, this CD may be for you!
It's been a long time since I've heard a band that carried the "boy band" sound more than Push Play. As I listened to this CD, by brain unwillingly began to imagine group choreography. Step-step-spin and freeze pose! I guess it was all of the harmonies. Luckily, my brain is like at etch-a-sketch. I was able to shake vigorously and get the image to just fade away. Push Play sounds like everything I've heard before, with uninspired lyrics and dull instrumentation, it has a great chance of ending up in high rotation on your local top 40 radio station.

I picked up a copy of this cd back in September of 2009, thinking that it was an alterntive rock band. Mostly because of the cover art. My mistake! It really is true... you really shouldn't judge a book (CD) by it's cover.
I really didn't hear or read much buzz about Push Play prior to the release of this album, and I pretty much stay up to date with the latest music... Since it's part of my job. So I took chance with it. After a few listenings to this album, I have to say... "It's not bad, but it's a far cry from my standard, more aggressive tastes". Putting my bias aside... although most of the music on this album seems to be generically artifical and controlled, there really isn't any one particular song on this album that really captures or demands my attention. The debut single "Midnight Romeo" seems to have been more of a forced push into the mainstream media market. It starts off with common sampling used by Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez... it worked for them right? However, throughout the album, you can certainly hear a few of the 80's and 90's pop band influences; such as: Flock of Seagulls, The Fixx, N'Sync & Green Day. Is this intentional or unintentional? Who knows! It's just nice to know that some of my generation has had an impact on today's tunes, regardless of the genre. See parent's... our kids are listening to us!

Harmonies, hooks, and high energy make Push Play's debut album exactly what it aims to be: a pure power pop sensation. As many other reviewers already accurately compared the nature of this band to that of 'N sync, Backstreet, etc., I say yes - agreed! These guys are the new version of the boy band feel, but certainly with a more modern sound. Right from the start "Watch It Burn" and "Midnight Romeo" grab you, so if you don't care for those two samples then move on. Their next album is also worth checking out. Great stuff!

I've been trying to broaden my listening horizon so then in turn have been picking up stuff I wouldn't usually listen to. I've definately found some great stuff out there I normally wouldn't have otherwise given a chance. Then we come to "Push Play". Are we about over the "American Idol" faze where all young hip teeny boppers automatically get record deals. I mean can anyone really tell me why this album is any different than countless other acts out there that sound just like them? Can someone find one track on this album that stands out anymore than the others? Every song on the album sounds exactly the same, not horrible music, but definately not good much. I guess maybe I've finally come to that age in my life where I just don't understand the stuff kids listen to these days. Anyway, I didn't hate the album, but couldn't pull one highlight from it, won't ever go out of my way to listen to it & probably even after owning the CD couldn't tell you who Pushplay are after writing this review. Not terrible, just absolutely not memorable in any means. More bland pop drizzle.

I love discovering new artists, so I was excited to check out this CD. Unfortunately, I found nothing special waiting for me. They are good, don't get me wrong. Just generic. Nothing sets them apart from the thousands of other bands making the bar and club circuit these days. The songs all sound the same to me, and they are mildly annoying with their bouncy, but uninteresting riffs. The lyrics are what really set apart a true artist for me, and their lyrics seem exceptionally juvenile. This is not a band I would go out of my way to listen to.

"Found" by Push Play doesn't really break new ground, but the tunes are catchy and seem to be hit material on today's top 40 charts. The trouble with the album is they don't have a unique sound, they sound like offshoots of Bowling For Soup or Cobra Starship. If you like those bands you'll Push Play.

Just another new Boy Band,

A solid effort but really nothing new or exciting. Maybe a band more suited to tweeners or young teenagers. It is pretty safe for that age group. Another example of a regional band that will be popular in select areas where they are marketed. The shelf life of this band is probably not too long. Maybe they could earn money to go to college and then get real jobs. Don't see them breaking into the top 40.

Push Eject,

Trying to go after the brutal top 40 crowd, Push Play is your standard pop/rock band that's only some musical tics away from the Boy Bands of ole'. What's worse is that they're going into a crowd with nothing different to stand out from the crowd. They had a very minor hit in "Midnight Romeo," but that lived solely on its chorus, and died soon after, never to be heard from again. Simply put, there's a million bands like Push Play, and the album only enforces this fact.
Highlights Include: Midnight Romeo Covergirl This Is Us Breaking Up (Better Off) Not that there's anything wrong with the album. They hit all the right beats, and the music/lyrics are pretty harmless, but the only problem is that all these are/have been hit. If you're really into this music, then you'll find something here you like, but otherwise, they're only a few desperate dumbed-down songs from being the Jonas Brothers. Real Score: 2.5/5

I'm not a huge Pushplay fan. My daughter likes one of their songs. I was not impressed with this CD.
