Book Description

This is a bundle of the first two stories in the Lost series.

Lost:

Alone in a cursed canyon, even a vampire can look safe.

After a car crash that may have taken her friends lives, Rachel Daniels finds herself lost in a cursed canyon. Her only hope to escape the place and save her friends is the man she finds wandering through the night; except Cameron Renault is no ordinary man. He’s a vampire and Rachel’s nightmare may have just begun.

Lost is a vampire romance short of around 15,000 words or 40 pages if in print.

Also Included: Found

Nancy Bonnelly killed her friends. She was driving the car when it wrecked, and she talked them into driving through the cursed canyon. Now two of them are dead, another is missing, and Nancy is injured and near death herself.

She is all alone until Dorian Renault finds her, takes her to a cave and nurses her back to health.

But what kind of man has the power to bring the almost dead back to life?

A vampire.

And Dorian isn’t any vampire. He’s a vampire fighting a monster of his own, one that lives inside him. He’d given up hope of winning the battle and was ready to die, until he meets Nancy.

Now Dorian has hope: hope that with Nancy by his side he doesn’t have to be a monster after all.

However, unknown to Dorian and Nancy, there are other monsters in the canyon. Monsters who know more about Nancy and her accident than Nancy herself.

Found is a 15,000 word short story, around 60 pages if in print.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the price ... June 4, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I read another of her books and it was pretty good. Completely deserved its high ratings.

This one, however, has some pretty obvious flaws, which makes me wonder how much editing actually went into it before publishing.

For example, within the first few chapters, the word "cheeks" was used. As in, a person's cheeks on their face. Only, instead of "cheeks", it was written as "checks". This was a fairly amateur mistake that I've seen tons of times in fanfiction written by 13 year olds. Can't say I've EVER seen it in a published novel before. All the same, I suppose once might have been overlooked ... but this mistake happened TWICE within the first two chapters.

The other issue is with the plot itself. It seems a bit choppy, and just feels rushed all the way through. The ending is practically nonexistant, leaving more questions than it answers. What I found especially odd was that upon Rachel and Cameron's meeting, not once did they stop to introduce themselves (I re-read twice just to make sure). Somehow, though, they know each other's names without them having to say them. How very sloppy, to have overlooked something that obvious.

For only a dollar, the book isn't horrible. But it certainly isn't worth much more than that.

5.0 out of 5 stars sex and terror October 25, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
I really liked this--a classic example of a delicious goodguy vampire and a scary-freaky badguy vampire, and a strong heroine with an inappropriate case of the hots for a guy with fangs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost is a good read October 25, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
I read Lost by Lori Devoti, and I really found it to be a compelling book. There is some great action, including an incredible chase through a curse-darkened canyon. And I like the characters as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful
That was terrible. It might have been good if it had been an actual story instead of a couple chapters and then an end that wasn't even an end. Awful. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars alright, but could have been better
This one was just okay. A lot of the kindle vampire fiction seems to fall into that catagory. The Black Rose Society by Jessica Anders was a lot better.
