Colorful Quilt Patterns Inspired by Stained Glass,
By
This review is from: Foundation Paper Pieced Stained Glass Quilts II (Paperback)
This is a book of patterns for quilts that resemble stained glass patterns to produce distinctive, colorful quilts of both traditional and dramatic new designs. This book contains some 36 squares that are described in great detail. These squares are then to be multiplied, perhaps using different colors and patterns, to cover the surface of the quilt.
Along with the patterns is a brief but fairly complete description of how to make the quile. This includes procedures for cutting out the patterns to the actual sewing. This book is the second in a series produced by the same authors. The first volume, without the II in the title (ISBN: 1891497022) was so popular that these new patters were created.

Beautiful book,

I bought this book used on eBay. When I saw the cover, I knew I had to have it. First of all, there are plenty of how-to photos in color, explaining how to paper piece. It can be difficult to learn how to paper piece, but once you learn, it's like riding a bike ... you don't forget. But it does take time to figure it out. There are 36 quilt blocks, one per page. I love the author's use of color for her blocks. It really makes it look like stained glass. There are more pieces to piece because every black line is another addition. I'm anxious to put together a block or maybe a small wallhanging with four blocks.

If you like paper piecing with elegant & complicated looking results, this is your book! The results are spectacular & look much more difficult than they really are to piece. As long as you read the directions at the beginning of the book & follow them, you have no problems & wind up with a very beautiful block. Before planning on making an entire quilt I would suggest you make one block for a throw pillow to see how you like it. The method of construction taked more time, but the results are well worth it! The patterns are planned for 12" blocks, but there are instructions for finished blocks frome 6" to 18" square, using a copier to increase or reduce the block sections in the book. The blocks work well in batiks or mottled fabrics. If you want to make something with WOW facture, this is it!

Very beautiful quilt when finished, a great way to use up scraps too. I've made two of them. My order came very quickly also.
