Book Description

October 1, 2005
It's quiltmaking made as simple as paint-by-numbers! With a new method called Foundation Piecing, you just follow a numerical sequence to stitch fabric onto a foundation. Even the smallest pieces meet precisely, quickly, and accurately. With 365 projects, you could make one every day of the year. They're organized month-by-month, so you could make a patriotic quilt with the July blocks; a Thanksgiving quilt in November; a Christmas quilt with the December blocks; or pretty floral quilts with each month's flowers. (There are also some whimsical celebrations such as the yellow submarine that marks the day the Beatles came to America.) Photos of quilts made with blocks for each month accompany the complete instructions for the entire foundation piecing process.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Piece-quilters with some experience take heart: no more templates for those patchwork beauties; no worries about cutting perfect fabric shapes. In this hefty volume, Causee offers a pattern-a-day roundup of foundation quilt blocks that can be combined or repeated in any number of combinations. Organized by months, the colorful selection of blocks, mostly seven-inch squares, is a sampling of traditional (log cabin, pineapple, school house) and creative blocks, including designs that mark holidays or famous people, replicate animals and plants, or picture uncomplicated landscapes. A photo of the finished block appears in the upper right-hand corner of the page; the remainder of the page is devoted to the easy-to-trace, clearly numbered pattern. For those unfamiliar with foundation-block quilting (as well as those who need a refresher), Causee provides illustrated instructions on how it's done. Even quilters who prefer the traditional methods may get a few design ideas here. Stephanie Zvirin

5.0 out of 5 stars 365 Foundation Quilt Blocks, May 15, 2007

This is the second foundation quilt block book that I have bought written by Linda Causse and I can't wait to get started on my next quilt project using one of her latest designs. Since I am a fairly new quilter, I find her books very explicit with instructions and helpful tips, especially for a quilter doing foundation blocks for the first time.

Love this book. Excellent variety of patterns and I can quickly make a block up within a half hour. Very easy and quick for even the new quilter to do paper piecing. By the end of the year I'll have 365 blocks and possible a few quilts finished!
