Demand has grown steadily. While touring acoustically across the country she has played shows with notables such as Paula Cole, Duncan Sheik, Ricki Lee Jones and John Hiatt. She was chosen as one of the "Most Wanted New Artists" at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and as an alumnus of the Newport Folk Festival performed to a sold out crowd along with Ani DiFranco, Dar Williams and the Indigo Girls. She has performed on The Late Show with Conan O' Brien with the "Suits" and her music has been heard in the CBS-TV movie "Friends at Last," starring Kathleen Turner as well as on the WBs "Dawsons Creek".
Trina has jokingly said that the blues were created in her native Minnesota . . . she's only kidding, of course but nevertheless, theres something in the water and Trina went and had herself a drink. Maybe thats why shes one hell of a soulful interpreter. These days, live and on record, youll find Trina accompanying herself on guitar, harmonica and piano, divulging your own thoughts back to you as she works that keen sense of intuition of hers. Take a moment, live or on record, and experience Trina for yourself.

In a word, impressive. In five, impressive, impressive, ....,

"When you first hear Leave, the second song on Foundation, you search forwhere you might have listened to it previously. Then you realize that there is such a familiarity in all of the songs on this album that Trina Hamlin has done something all soulful pop musicians wish they could do: revivify. At first I thought One Good Reason sounded like Tina Turner's earlier amazing work. You Can't Remember is moving and soft at the beginning but builds to this chilling intensity that gets in your blood. This honest, brilliant cd manages to highlight a distinct voice (and one hell of a harmonica player) and sound utterly new while constantly referring to its obvious blues, soul and alternative pop roots. A unity is achieved as these sounds fuse together. In a word, impressive. In five, impressive, impressive, impressive, impressive, impressive."

I bought this CD after having had the pleasure of seeing this artist in person. I do love the CD but I think I was spoiled by having first heard Trina in person. She is an awesome singer/songwriter/storyteller but as much as I like this CD, I have to say it doesn't quite reflect the power of her personality/talent/voice that I got when I heard her perform live. More a reflection of the CD maybe than of the artist or maybe it's just all about the nice intimacy of a live performance vs. recorded music. Who knows. Nonetheless, I recommend the CD for the thoughtful lyrics, great music & amazing voice. But if you have a chance to hear Trina live, don't miss it!
