Book Description

1430219645 978-1430219644 November 19, 2009 1

This will be the book introducing CentOS servers and how to add and manage Fedora clients, with which it shares a common core. Fedora being easier to use, it will lead users and admins to professional levels of competence in using CentOS. It does not aim specifically at RHEL, but follows the RHEL curriculum closely enough to be able to be used as a RHCE exam preparation text.

  • Covers a wide variety of system administration tasks
  • Concrete examples from experienced CentOS and Red Hat admins
  • RHCE is a major exam for Linux admins; this book covers the same material.

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Jaime Sicam occasionally works as an IT instructor and consultant. Prior to his hiatus from working full time, he indulged himself as one of the system administrators in the engineering team of Defender Technologies Group. Jaime takes pride in being part of DOST-ASTI (Advanced Science and Technology Institute) on Bayanihan Linux. His team advocated the use of open source software for the computing needs of government agencies, schools, and small and medium–size enterprises in the Philippines. He enjoys technology, road trips, and keeping up–to–date on news of the Utah Jazz.

Ryan Baclit is a Linux and web programming instructor at the Bluepoint Institute of Higher Technology in Manila. He used to administer open source databases and networks in a previous life, before he discovered that those who can do, teach. He holds an RHCE and a degree in computer science from DLSU in Manila.

This review is from: Foundations of CentOS Linux (Paperback)
I would recommend this book one of the few that are not too simplistic
Many great examples without being too verbose
Matches well to RHCE Curriculum too.

Excellent book!
