Book Description

0321178572 978-0321178572 March 2003 2nd
Everyone agrees that they only way to learn economics is to do it. Rote memorization does not work. The keys to success in economics are active involvement and working problems. To help students succeed, the Bade/Parkin package is designed to encourage learning by doing. After all, practice makes perfect! Practice is the cornerstone of the innovative Bade/Parkin approach. Each chapter of Foundations of Economics concentrates on a manageable number of core concepts. A full page Checkpoint--containing a Practice Problem with solution and a parallel Exercise--immediately follows each main idea. Checkpoints serve as stopping points and encourage students to practice using a concept before moving on. Different learning styles need different learning tools, and eFoundations, Bade/Parkin's extensive web environment, puts students in the driver's seat and allows them to use technology in the way that suits them best.

Robin Bade was a high school teacher in math and physics before enrolling at the Australian National University, where she graduated with a Ph.D. in economics. 2.0 out of 5 stars NO ACCESS CODE, January 17, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was advertised by the publisher as also having "elevated online" experience but the access code to the econolabs on-line interactive portion was not included, nor even mentioned in the description that it might be needed and was not being provided in this student value edition. You had to go to the publishers website and purchase a separate access code for 50.00. Very misleading by the publisher description of the book, indicates online experience included in book edition. Speaking with publisher on the chat was very unproductive. Schools should also list whether the access code is required so student's can be sure to know which version they need to purchase for such an pricey book to begin with.
