Bought this book because I had heard so much about Adm. Stockdale & then one day ran into him here in town. I was impressed by his presence & decided to go buy this book. it's now one of my favorites along with 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull' & 'Man's Search for Meaning'. Really taught me to focus my internal locus of control & realized that I can only control my response to situations by not reacting to them. Great Read!

I highly recommend this excellent book. It surveys philosophy, focusing on deontology, and does so in a highly readable style. The author's audience is military officers, but that does not detract from the experience for civilians; in fact, for me it made it all the more interesting given our current military engagement(s).
