Book Description

March 2005
When founders, boards and executive teams get together to build a billion dollar business, they often fail to realize that what's required in a leader during the early stages of growth is altogether different than what's needed later on. The characteristics of leadership so crucial in a company's infancy - the vision, the drive, the creative genius - are not the same qualities needed in a big company.

This book is about the journey from entrepreneurial start up to a high impact company and the pitfalls you can avoid along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars important contribution to understanding entrepreneur-managers, January 14, 2011
By
Frith Maier (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Founder Factor (Paperback)
The intensity of focus required from an entrepreneur to turn an idea into a viable company can leave little time for reflection or networking. When I read this book, I got very excited: someone who understands the way I'm wired! Nancy Truitt Pierce's work is an important contribution to the business management bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars Founder Realities, June 9, 2006
This review is from: The Founder Factor (Paperback)
Pierce illuminates key factors that not only describe but predict Founder led organization behavior, successes and failures. Until now, not enough attention has been paid to the uniqueness of these organizations.
For anyone who has worked in or with such an organization, or for anyone who is thinking about joining a Founder led company....this is a must read. For Founders who welcome unabashed sometimes personal insight, this should be a staple on their bookshelf.
