By Duke Smith (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Founding the Far West: California, Oregon, and Nevada, 1840-1890 (Hardcover)
Founding the Far West, written by Professor David Alan Johnson, Ph.D., is the best source I have read for how these three states began. Focused on the lives of the first Euro-American settlers and the political culture they manifested, this book has been thoroughly researched and assiduously sourced. It provides, either by text or by an astounding number of bibliographical references in the notes, a source for whatever branch of this subject the reader wishes to pursue. By any measure, this is an outstanding work.
