Editorial Reviews

Review

Founding Fathers Uncommon Heroes is a fascinating look at the lives of six of the Founding Fathers of our nation. It is filled with anecdotes and stories not often told, and gives readers a glimpse of what truly made these men uncommon heroes. This book brings to light the physical, spiritual and philosophical characteristics that propelled these men to greatness. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about some very uncommon heroes whose courage, convictions and fortitude shaped the fabric of our nation and established the greatest democracy on earth. --Senator Orrin G. Hatch

The joy of reading Founding Fathers Uncommon Heroes is that Allen admits our national heroes were not perfect. They had weaknesses, both moral and physical. But the book shines when Allen shows us that even flawed men and women can accomplish great things. --Betty Webb, East Valley Tribune

I m not sure why, but I suddenly started getting tears in my eyes while reading this book. It s not any particular story, but I think a feeling in general of knowing these men just a little bit better. I have never read a history book like this about the Founding Fathers one with such personal stories and conversations. They are becoming real men to me instead of the mythical heroes they usually seem to be. --Jennifer Green

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read, February 26, 2003

My wife and I have both read this really great book.Every American should know this information by heart. It makes us even more proud to be an American and to appreciate what our "Founding Fathers" went through to give us such a wonderful heritage. They were truly dedicated, intelligent men who were willing to sacrifice everything,if need be,in order to get their new nation started on Godly principles.
Our Constitution is as valid today(maybe even more so) as it was when ratified inspite of many court decisions which have tried to change the origional intent of the framers.
We recommend that this book be past of every school's history curriculum

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, March 27, 2003

At last a book that masterfully brings our Founding Fathers to life! Steve Allen has captured both the awe-inspiring and shocking facts about these men and put them into one easy-to-read literary work. I was surprised to discover the daily "air-baths" of Benjamin Franklin, together with his rascally ways of getting the closest seat near the fire. I was also touched by Franklin's resolutions to become a better person. The vision of George Washington to win his battles is unparalled. And I never knew that Patrick Henry had 17 children! A wonderful book!
