Diversity of Indian Miniature Painting,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Four Centuries of Rajput Painting: Mewar, Marwar and Dhundhar Indian Miniatures from the Collection of Isabelle and Vicky Ducrot (Hardcover)
This book shows a wide range of Indian miniature art and is more than just about Mughal painting, which is generally more popular with Westerners. It shows the different painting forms that were going on before Persian art-inspired Mughal art appeared in the 16th century. It shows how rich Indian painting was, particularly in the areas of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujurat, Delhi and Agra. I am not an art expert, just like what I like, but these pictures are quite exquisite. Makes you want to go to India and see the originals, although many are all over the world and perhaps may be seen in your hometown! Westerners (and Americans in particular) need to see more books like this.
