5.0 out of 5 stars A facinating analysis and story about a lost gold mine., January 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Four Days From Fort Wingate: The Lost Adams Diggings (Paperback)
This book turned my brother and me into "nuts," about the Adams diggings. Nothing stirs a person's imagination more than a real mystery. Richard French does a great job of telling the story of his (and others) efforts to understand and solve the mystery of the lost Adams diggings - a fantastic gold strike made and then lost in the Southwest. This book will really make your mind work... and dream.

5.0 out of 5 stars The French search for the Lost Adams Diggings, September 14, 2003

Richard French wrote this book several years ago. Until then Apache Gold and Yaqui Silver, by J. Frank Dobie was the single lingering work on the Lost Adams Diggings. Dick French has provided accuracy missing in the Dobie work. Four Days from Fort Wingate will be around as long as men remain interested in lost gold mines and dreams.

I found this book to be very interesting. I couldn't put it down. Having grown up in the Phoenix area, I had always heard that the Lost Adams was in the Mazatazel mtns north of Phoenix. It was interesting to learn it was probably not even close to that area. It is also interesting how the story has similar elements to many other lost mine legends.
