This is a very important book for me also. It is one of 3 texts I would carry in life if I could keep 3 books in life. The other two would be the Tao Te Ching and the Holy Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST-READ-BOOK ON CONTROLING YOUR KARMA, January 29, 2006
This review is from: Four Essays on Karma (Paperback)
No other book can ever outmatch this book in terms of self-help. This book is widely read by business leaders and politicians in Japan. It demystifies how you can change your karma for better by dint of accumulating merit. It is a must-read Chinese classic for those who aspire to be a virtuous leader and lead a happy life. For example, according to this book, hidden virtue is way more powerful force in changing your karma than open virtue. Hidden virtue means that you try to be a good Samaritan without letting anybody know that you are a good Samaritan. In so doing you can accumulate merit, which would translate into a blessing in your life.

The chairman of Kyocera, Mr. Kazuo Inamori, is a big fan of this book and he frequently talks about the importance of accumulating merit by citing this book. In Japan this book is translated by Masahiro Yasuoka.

You should read this book. If you read this book, you can not only become very savvy about Asian values but also turn adversity into a wonderful blessing.

Meritorious families have blessings from generation to generation.
