An unusual westen comedy, sure to be a family favorite!,

This is a great western comedy portrayed from the viewpoint of an Easterner, a young optometrist, whose idealistic dreams of the Wild West are shattered by its' hard reality once he arrives to start his business in Tombstone. He meets Wyatt Earp, whose scorn of eyeglasses and the Easterner is matched only by his need for both of them. The Easterner has always admired the skill of the (once) crack-shot gunman, and has practised in secret to be able to do the same, with mixed success and even stranger results. A love interest helps him become the man he's always wanted to be, and he manages to become a hero, besides. A delightfully woven tale, well filmed and beautifully acted. A "sleeper" that you will want for your home video library! (Plus, if you know a child who is shy about wearing glasses, this story may change his attitude!)

Teaches a lesson of eye care and what it means in a western theme.
Where even a hero like Wyatt Erp needs glasses......

This video is one of my silly guilty pleasures, like disco music and Funyuns. It's not gut-busting hilarious, but rather amusing in a gentle sort of way. Career nice guy Judge Reinhold plays a nice guy who finds he's got more steel in his spine than he had realized, and Patricia Clarkson seems to be enjoying herself playing the role of his adoring, encouraging girlfriend. The Doom Boys are pretty funny too, but to me Fred Ward as Wyatt Earp steals the show. You could swear that he time-traveled from the real Tombstone to play that role. This is the kind of video to plunk in the VCR on a Sunday afternoon when there's nothing going on and you don't feel like being bothered with the doom-and-gloom of the real world. You'll find yourself watching it more often than you thought you would.
