Book Description

May 1, 2006
The FOUR HILLS OF LIFE tells the wise and beautiful Ojibwe story about the path we walk through the seasons of life, from the springtime of youth through the winter of old age. The hills we climb along the way are the challenges we face and the responsibilities we accept. The path is not always easy; some of us lose our way. We question the meaning of life. But when we walk the Good Path—when we commit to values and fulfill our goals—the meaning of life finds us.

Through engaging text, illustrations, and activities designed especially for kids, THE FOUR HILLS OF LIFE shows how everything in creation follows this path in the great circle of life. It is a timeless Ojibwe teaching for all young readers.

The Four Hills Of Life by co-authors Thomas Peacock (A professor of education at University OF Minnesota Duluth) and Marlene Wisuri (Director Of The Carlton County Historical Society in Cloquet, Minnesota) is a compilation of Ojibwe wisdom, especially as relating to the four stages of the journey of life - early childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. Full color photographs and traditional-style Ojibwe artworks throughout illustrate this anthology of classic parables, true vignettes, translated poems, learning activities, and more, about everything from raising and disciplining children to seeking the meaning of life. 5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful, November 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Four Hills of Life: Ojibwe Wisdom (Hardcover)
I bought this book with high expectations and they were delivered. I could see a parent reading this to a child as a bonding tool while giving the child a positive overview of life and lessons to be learned. Meanwhile I'm 25 and still absolutely loved it.
