A gem of Native American philosophy and cultural wisdom,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Four Hills of Life: Ojibwe Wisdom (Hardcover)
The Four Hills Of Life by co-authors Thomas Peacock (A professor of education at University OF Minnesota Duluth) and Marlene Wisuri (Director Of The Carlton County Historical Society in Cloquet, Minnesota) is a compilation of Ojibwe wisdom, especially as relating to the four stages of the journey of life - early childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. Full color photographs and traditional-style Ojibwe artworks throughout illustrate this anthology of classic parables, true vignettes, translated poems, learning activities, and more, about everything from raising and disciplining children to seeking the meaning of life. A gem of Native American philosophy and cultural wisdom, recommended for readers of all ages and backgrounds.

I bought this book with high expectations and they were delivered. I could see a parent reading this to a child as a bonding tool while giving the child a positive overview of life and lessons to be learned. Meanwhile I'm 25 and still absolutely loved it.
