Book Description

A Story in Four Scenes

Unforgettable moments shape a romance that could last a lifetime.

Jen Adams’s first kiss didn’t happen the way she’d expected. On a steamy summer’s day, a shared moment with a boy who runs with a bad crowd leaves an indelible impression on a thirteen year old girl. But that’s only the first time Jen and Drake Malinson’s paths cross in an unforeseen way.

The night of junior prom Jen bumps into an older, sexier and even wilder Drake. He distracts and mesmerizes her, turning a disastrous evening into one she’ll always remember.

When they meet again as adults under stranger circumstances, Jen tries to ignore old memories. Were her insights into Drake real or had his kisses seduced her into believing he was deeper than he was. Can straight-arrow Jen and aimless Drake change enough to find common ground?

Four vignettes illustrate a relationship that spans years. A 20,000 word novella.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

A few years ago during one of those "droughty" times a writer sometimes experiences, I needed to take a break from plotting full length novels and worrying about sales. To rejuvenate my muse, I chose to write what amounts to a two-character sketch, something I could feel and which wasn't heavily plot-driven. The result is this coming of age story featuring a good girl and a boy from the wrong side of the tracks who meet several times over the years. Each supplies unexpected support the other needs at a critical moment. I feel it's touchingly romantic. I hope you will too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the read December 5, 2011

A cute and light romance. It's about Jen and Drake who share their very first kiss at a young age. Then through out the years, whether it be by coincidence or fate, they keep bumping into each other. All though it be brief encounters, each encounter was enough to leave a lasting impression with each other. It's a heart warming story and will put a smile on your face. Note: If you are looking for sex, there is none. Only kissing and hand holding in this story. However, still worth the read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet love story that leaves you with hope. December 5, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was short and sweet and free which made for a fun little diversion.

Jen is a smart, respectable student who meets Drake one summer when she is 13. Drake is sweet and smart but his home life is much different than Jen's and he and his friends sell drugs. Jen and Drake do not travel in the same social circles, but they keep meeting and are undeniably drawn to each other as each incident incites a passionate kiss. When the time is finally right for them and social circumstances no longer seem as important, they find what they have been looking for in each other and themselves.

I was surprised at how interesting this book was to read. Their romance was believable and Drake's circumstances and sensitive nature made him romantic and appealing. Jen's arrogance was not blind as she was able to see Drake's intelligence and his possibilities. Her encouragement and belief in him was a wonderful compensation for all the times he had been there for her. A sweet love story that leaves you with hope.

3.0 out of 5 stars I didn't see it coming October 2, 2013
By Jennie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book can benefit with a bit of editing in the beginning chapters as the foul words muttered by girls at fourteen no less; that I feel can be done without and written in a manner with class. Readers can picture in our minds such situations without literally reading the harsh words. It takes an even better writer to give the image to the readers without resorting to using such words.

This is a sweet short story that happen in the span of some twenty years between Jen and Drake. Though it would have been nice to have some substance in between their meetings, the book only gave us those four kisses and when they happened. It would have been nice to have the reason why Drake preferred not to stay home and why he needed the money.

The ending was so abrupt I didn't see it coming. It was like the writer suddenly lost the drive to write and just ended the story right there on the road where Jen was parked. I mean, you build your love story for twenty years and you end it like that? Come on.

The other reviewer was right, if you want something like this in a more complete book, read One Day. It is actually their similarity why I got this book, only it wasn't.

A few more chapters to properly lead to the ending would have been nice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short romantic story December 6, 2011
By North
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This novella starts with the heroine at 13 years old, not comfortable with flirting and feeling out of sort. First kiss.

The story then takes you to her prom night. Second kiss. Flash forward a few years. Third encounter. It made me feel like a time-traveler on speed. It's certainly an interesting plot idea and the protagonists are very nice but I missed all the in-between character development. It was like reading the end chapters, having skipped the story itself.

The language of the first pages almost turned me off reading the novella. I understand it worked within the story-line but I personally don't enjoy slander and vulgarity. Call me prude. Good thing it only lasted for a chapter.

I would have given this four stars but for the ending which was abrupt, illogical and, although some will find it sexy, was not something I envision the heroine would actually do at this point of time. A few more chapters would have greatly helped the final denouement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fans of Cecelia Ahern's Where Rainbows End will Love. December 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You never forget your first kiss as it's the one that you will always remember, just like first loves. My first kiss was when I was 9 years old with my best friend Daniel Roberts. In Four Kisses by Bonnie Dee , we meet Jen Adams and Drake Malinson as their paths first cross when Jen is hanging at the beach with her friends and is thirteen years old. Then they go their separate ways as they never travel in the same groups. She is an academic and he is a druggie . The next time they come across each other is the night of Junior Prom and Jen has just found her boyfriend with another chick and somehow she finds herself by the end of the night in Drake's arms once again. They share an amazing night together and then again they go their separate ways. Again years pass , this time Jen is in her 20's and working as a Public Attorney and finds herself with a case file for a "Drake Malinson". He has been pulled up on Drug charges and selling. The two meet and again they have chemistry that pulls them together. This is the third kiss before he heads to prison and Jen in her direction. Once more years pass and Jen is now working for the DA State and out on her coffee break when she runs into Drake - this time he is in a suit and looks amazing - gone is the old druggie troublesome Drake and here is Businessman Drake. The pair share their fourth kiss and this time will they share kisses forever or will they miss their chance once again ?
This was such a lovely story and reminded me of the book by Cecelia Ahern "Love Rosie aka Where Rainbows End" which is just about to be made into a movie.
